Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help. It also explains the decisions you will need to make before your pet's upcoming surgery. Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past.
Here at Alamo Area Veterinary Clinic, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem. We also adjust the amount and type of anesthetic used depending on the health of your pet. The handout on anesthesia explains this in greater detail.

My small dog had major dental surgery here. Although I think the care is very good as well as the efficient office staff, the vet was inexperienced with fearful dogs and said she "wouldn't do the postop check up" why? well because this senior 8 lb dog tried to bite the handlers; well yes, he was terrified, and he was just out of anesthesia, and he was minus half his dentition and in pain so.... I also didn't get a call back the next day to see how he was doing. My boyfriend who was a vet tech was able to easily handle him and check his mouth, so I can't understand why theirs could not. I fear in

Last year dog got spider bite. Had to take her to SA to emergency vet because they couldn’t take minute or two and give her antibiotics. Cost us $1600 Today got home and her foot swelled. No can’t see here till next week. That 5 minute look to much to ask for. But I can receive their reminders that they need this or that. Caring my foot. But they aren’t the only ones

Front desk staff: Very responsive when scheduling the visit for my dog. Were able to get me in fairly quickly despite a busy schedule. Helpful and easy to work with when I checked in and checked out.
Vet techs: There were two women taking care of my dog. They did a great job keeping her calm. She is normally afraid of strangers but she warmed right up to them. I really only spoke with one of the techs and she answered all my questions. I'm not sure if one of them was in training or if they just normally have 2 people in order to keep control of newer dogs. They had a little bit of trouble with

Cares about you and your pets! They will do right by you and listen to your needs!
I’ve used this facility for over 13 years. (2 horses, 2 cats, 3 dogs) Dr. Louis doesn’t just treat you and your horse like a number. He’s compassionate and caring about your feelings for you and your equine family and will work with you for the best options for you horse and your budget. Dr Baker takes the time to listen about your small animal needs. She’s the only vet in town I trust for my 20 year old cat. I know when the time comes to make the tough decision about Brock’s future it will be met with

I tried to give this place a try. After recently moving from SA we needed a veterinarian closer to our house. Well the first time we took our 12yr old Pomeranian/rat terrier there for an exam they were good. Then it went down hill from there. After our dogs cough "Bear" came back mind you 2 1/2wks later, we called & informed them. They told us… we could do another month of steroids for him (ok no problem) I went to pick up the meds. Paid for new meds, the lady up front handed me a bag with the meds in it. We both didn't check the meds & I left. We were planning on starting him on
