I walked into Numark Credit Union in New Lenox yesterday a little afraid that I was going to be laughed out of there. You see, I was hoping to open a loan for a significant amount of money but my income is irregular due to being self-employed. To my delight, I was treated with nothing but kindness and respect by everyone there. The teller had me speak with Maria, who I believe is a personal banker there, and she walked me through the options I had for borrowing. We crunched some numbers and, though it didn't seem like I would qualify yesterday, Maria gave me some advice on next steps for me

I filed for a mortgage here. Somehow they managed to delay the closing date three times without any real reason. The kicker is that they actually later sold my mortgage to a company more inept than they were.

They handled my re-fi. It was the kind of situation where you end up faxing everyhing 2 or 3 times becuase they've never seen it though each time the fax on my end said it went through. They weren't very comptetitve from a rate standpoint--though it was a lot lower than my previous rate from 7 years ago. I would go elsewhere if I had it to do over.
