Start off by coming down and trying out a class at no charge. Training in Martial Arts is a big step in your life. Much like buying a house or a car, you should get a walk through or a test drive before you sign on the bottom line. Once you have tried a class or two and you like what we have to offer, we will sit down with you and talk about your future in Kyokushin Karate.
We are different than most Dojo's out there. We do not have contracts or package deals. We have "Month to Month" tuition. We believe that a student will want to stay enrolled because of the training they receive, not because they are locked in by a contract. We promote a family environment and are always happy to see parents and family member stay to watch their kids or siblings train.

My children are half-Japanese so I really wanted an authentic Karate experience. Kyokushin is the real deal when it comes to Karate, and this is not just for kids, there are an equal number of adults and kids learning. The owner/lead instructor is a eight-stripe black belt and the individual attention he (and his black-belt assistants) give my two kids is outstanding.
I think a lot of people are drawn to the fancy board-breaking of Korean Taekwondo, which seems to be the popular alternative. I observed both styles and I preferred the seriousness and authenticity of Kyokushin. If a child

I was hesitant to write a review for self-fish reasons; I don't want the atmosphere to change. That being said....
My son WAS attending the martial arts school across from Safeway in Martinez. The school is very high-tech, kids use a digital login system, they have some kind of special child safety mat imported from somewhere exotic, blah blah blah. That is a great place for only children who need bbsitting or a very expensive play date (~$160+/month); overcrowded (23 kids per class?), not organized, kids making potty noises during class (late teen black belts "instructing" and

This is a great place to come for both Kids and Adults. I have been training here for over 2 years and I love Sensei Ty. I never feel threatened and even though we train extremely hard I feel confident that I could take care of myself in any type of dangerous situation. Sensei is also very patient and extremely good teaching children!
