Services
Each psychiatrist at River City Psychiatry is an independently operating solo practitioner. We will at times consult with one another, while always striving to maintain the strictest confidentiality standards, in order to provide the best possible care to our patients. Our address is 4201 Springhurst Blvd Suite 203.
River City Psychiatry provides an extensive array of services which will be tailored to meet each patient's individual needs. A collaborative, customized treatment plan will developed during your first session with your psychiatrist. We often encourage supplementing treatment with therapy and counseling.
Please refer to our New Patient Instructions on the Patient Downloads page. This contains information and required forms for new patients. This must be completed by the patient and received by our office in order to schedule your appointment. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early before your scheduled appointment time.

I have been a patient there for many years. He is by far the most compassionate, he listens and hears more importantly he understands and always putting his patients well being top priority. I left this place in 2012. Dr Thompson seemed ok at first. However, after a year, he had me on seraquil and one night it cut off my air supply and I had to go to the hospital because if it. I had an appointment 2 days later to talk to him and told him I wantwa going to take it again and we needed to find something else to try. He kept telling me no and kept pushing it on me. So I just didn't take it. A month later he put me on clonazapam and I was fine and then when we started weaning me off, I ran out of refills and told him I needed another script for the lower dose and he said no. That I'd be

Extremely frustrating experience. Andrea in administration treats you like you are an inconvenience to her day. She wouldn't even tell me what the doctor's availability was until I submitted a full self-eval online. Even then, you have to wait 2-3 business days to hear back if they will even "accept" you! She makes the new patient registration process exceptionally frustrating.

Today I had my first visit with River City and Dr.Taylor and this was a real psychiatrist visit! I have been to psychiatrists before and therapists but felt like just another number not a individual with mental problems. This was by far the most detail I have received about my mental condition. I have to admit I was hesitant due to the fill out paperwork first then we will call you but I’m so glad that I went with them. Dr. Thompson is fantastic! He's professional, caring, attentive, and genuinely cares about a patient's overall well-being. He listens and includes patients in their care plan. He doesn't just hand you a prescription and send you on your way. He works with you to develop the right treatment plan that works for you and if it's not working, he will continue trying new things until he finds something that does work. Even after he stopped taking insurance, I was more than willing to pay out of pocket to continue seeing him.

Its impossible to get an appointment here! They obviously don't need money and are not compassionate. You can't even call to make an appointment, you have to send on paperworks by fax (like you are some bussiness), and wait for a call from the office for an appointment. Do they realize they are a psychiatrist and not a gynecologist and someone may need their assistance sooner then later??? The receptionist was not understanding and hung up on me.
