I have received excellent eye care over the years and more as they are concerned about my whole health. I never feel 'hurried' or like I am being 'processed'. Every procedure, every test and all parts of the exam are explained in detail. They always take time to answer any questions or concerns raised. I feel like I 'family'. I hate leaving negative reviews, especially on local businesses. However I am very disappointed. I had an appointment but the office canceled my appointment, (yes I confirmed thru txt message and can provide proof,) and filled it without notify me. I scheduled this appointment 3-4 weeks out because of how busy the office is. Cindy was not very helpful in trying to fix the mistake nor did she try to reschedule me in. Her response was unprofessional.

I made an appointment with Dr. Saidi who works at Dr. Almariaz' office. Actually Dr. Saidi runs this practice now. The entire staff was extremely professional and also very pleasant. The surroundings were clean and they took your temperature when you arrived. I had some preliminary tests done by Dr. Saidi's assistant and then I saw Dr. Saidi. He was also very professional, very efficient and also pleasant. I have been to many eye doctors and clinics and by far Dr. Saidi is the best one. I highly recommend this practice.

Dr. Saidi (who now sees most of the clients) completely changed my life by fitting me with Sclarel Lenses, which I never even knew existed. After 30 years of wearing uncomfortable contacts that damaged my eyes, he immediately guided me through a process to allow my eyes to heal as much as they could and then get me the Sclarel Lenses that allow me to see slightly better than 20/20, which is a miracle. I have extreme near sightedness and fairly extreme astigmatism which is too much for Lasik. My old contacts used to turn in my eyes constantly and I my vision changed constantly with them. My

Came up to stay in Big Bear with family during the COVID-19 situation and I was on my last week's supply of lenses. Called and was able to get a same day eye exam apt, which wouldn't be possible in OC. Although my shipment got delayed, the office offered me trial lenses to see me through and kept in touch to keep me informed. Thank you.

My husband has been coming to Dr. Almaraz for over 10 years. He recently just got Kaiser Insurance and has no choice to switch because of his insurance. With that being said, this office has been taking care of his blues for years. Their trust worthy and my husband hasn't last come since 2 years ago. But surprising enough his eyes have more less same prescription. The quality of care is here. But he wanted one last pay out of pocket visit bc my husband trust them.

I was visiting Big Bear for a weekend and my glasses fell apart at the hotel. I couldn't find the tiny screw that holds everything together in the left lense to save my life. It was a Friday so I stopped by James W Almaraz without an appointment and they fixed my glasses within 5 minutes, no charge!

I am a part time resident of a small community in the San Bernardino mountains. During a weeklong stay, I noticed that one nose pad had come off my eyeglasses. I googled, "eyeglasses near me" and went to this office in Big Bear. How wonderful the service was!!! Lovely greeting by the receptionist/scheduler who immediately told me they could help, even though I had just dropped in and wasn't a regular client. Dr Almarez and his staff are fantastic. I drive to Big Bear yearly for my check up. My daughter prior to her departure to university had regular check ups.
Dr Almarez explains things as he does a thorough eye examination. My last check up he showed me how to do a simple procedure, to help with dry eyes.
My daughter was amazed that he knew how she read her book (head to one side)

I cannot say enough great things about this office! I'm visiting big bear from LA and left all my contacts and glasses at home! I cannot believe i did this, but it happened and in order to not ruin the entire vacation, i needed to find contacts! I called early on a Saturday morning and the office was closed, but had a message to contact the doctor for emergencies. I called his cell and he answered right away. He was more than accommodating and only charged a small emergency fee to see me at the office. I was able to get contacts and be out of the office within 5 minutes!!!! This saved my vacation

I recently got glasses for the first time and BOY DID I NEED THEM! I was very impressed with how friendly and informative the staff was and that Dr. Almaraz was so clear in explaining everything. I felt very comfortable the whole time.
On top of just excellent care, the staff worked extra hard with me to get me the best product possible without going over my insurance. NOW THAT WAS AMAZING!!! I was recommended to see Dr. Almaraz from some very happy customers and now I am the one recommending :)
