I give this company one star in comparison to my experience with Scout property management, which manages one of my other properties. TNWLC oversteps their role as property manager. A good property manager would not provide an interpretation of a governing document without providing some proof to legally support that interpretation (e.g., case law, an email from a lawyer, etc). It should be a serious concern for any board to use this company that purports to act as attorneys. Additionally, a property management company's role is to work with the board on common element building maintenance

I believe it takes two to work, the team has been supportive and accommodative to our needs. I communicate my concerns and the company acted promptly. I think the relationship has to be in a partnership to work, and the New Washington Land Company is a great partner for our property. I appreciate their attention to detail and great executor approach. Nothing but a satisfied client here. Thank you for your brilliant service.

The best property management company I have worked with. I moved to DC area from NY. I have lived in different apartments and owned a condo (which I sold before I moved). Never have I experienced such pleasant people in the property management industry. I might be somewhat new in the area (who purchased a condo on 14th St area), but, The New Washington Land Company has made my new home that much better. They are very responsive, helpful, and knowledgable.

Not sure what's with all these negative reviews, but New Washington Land has been great for me. They just took over management of our building and it has been night and day! They are so helpful, particularly with my unit account. The books were in shambles with the old management; however, NWL cleared everything by working with the Board and did their due diligence.
It's really unfortunate this company is not getting the recognition it deserves. However, i think most people are aware that only "unhappy/dissatisfied" clients/ customers that write reviews. This is why I am writing this. This company

The team at The New Washington Land Company is phenomenal. Every time I have had any issues with my unit, I shoot them a quick note and always get a same day response. Mikki, the building manager is great and very responsive! And, the young lady at the front desk in The New Washington Land Company's corporate office is very polite and attentive. Nothing but good things to say about New Washington Land!

I love these people! The friendliest bunch! I always recommend our owners to visit their office; it's lovely and located dead center on 17th St.
Aside from their friendliness and office location, the employees always do everything they say they will do promptly. I called several times to get copies of insurance/governing documents and to clarify several things on my ledger, and they sent and solved everything within five minutes. The customer service level this company has to offer is unbeatable, which is for some sad reason, is hard to find these days.

My experience with The New Washington Land Company has been beyond exceptional! I would most definitely recommend TNWLC. I can say that I'm super happy I went with them. They were very efficient at getting everything set up paperwork-wise and they had a tenant in there quickly. Annessa and her staff respond to immediate renter and owner concerns. My life has become much less stressful since I acquired their services. If you are in need of a property management company please don't hesitate to call them, it's the best thing I ever did!!

DO NOT RENT AN APARTMENT IF NWLC IS YOUR PROPERTY MANAGER.
We rented a ground unit in the Cairo managed by NWLC (Lisa) and though we have a lot of complaints, the two most important resulted in us getting a rent concession because Lisa ignored our maintenance request emails for hot water (for showering!) in the middle of winter for nearly 2 months. We had to report NWLC to the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs and threatened to file a lawsuit for violation of the DC Housing Code before they actually took us seriously and fixed it.
Also, according to DC law, a landlord has 45 days

I recently signed a lease for an apartment through New Washington. My lease was set to begin on Nov. 1, but on October 31 I received an email from the management company letting me know the owner of the unit decided to sell rather than rent -- meaning the unit was no longer mine. This email only came after I sent one asking if they had received my security deposit and move-in fee checks in the mail. This makes me wonder when they were planning on telling me that my lease was terminated. For all they knew, I could have been set to move in in less than 24 hours.

My condo building in DC used New Washington Land for the majority of the years that I lived there. While the building definitely had some issues and was likely very difficult to manage, I always felt our on-site employee Frederick was easy to work with and immediately responsive.
Adding on, because I stupidly didn't realize that Jennifer, who worked my front door, also works here. Jennifer was a complete and total life saver on numerous occasions. Her service level was exemplary, taking to heart the 'never have a bad day' at work persona, major shout out!

Worst management company in DC. To anyone thinking about using them, skip them! The person who runs the place talks over you and could care less what you have to say. He is rude and arrogant, in fact his whole staff is rude. Your condo fees should not go to these people who think they are god's gift to the earth. You ask them questions and they play hide-seek with you, when you ask for further explanation the person first tries to cook up justifications that don't add up, then talks over you and hangs up the phone.

I own a condo in the Capitol Hill area of Washington DC that is currently managed by Jack Eisen-Markowitz of The New Washington Land Company. In October of 2014 I become embroiled in a dispute over fault for a leak in the unit below mine. The leak was caused by the disconnection between 2 common area pipes located behind the walls of my unit. Our bylaws (like many others I would imagine) state that pipes carrying water & sewage behind the interior walls of a unit are common to the bldg and thus the responsibility of the association.
