Hillcrest Kettlebells
Hillcrest Kettlebells offers outdoor private, Zoom private, and Zoom group training sessions. Farrah completed the Russian Kettlebell Certification (RKC) in 2009. After that, she was invited to assist the Russian Kettlebell Certification in 2011. Also, she completed StrongFirst SFG kettlebell certification in 2014.

As a result of completing these certifications and teaching kettlebells for over twelve years, she's an expert at training clients at all levels. Farrah has trained all of her clients over these past twelve years and hasn't hired other trainers to train her clients. Her current clients range from ages 24 to 75.

At 23, she hired a personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness. He was instrumental in getting her to lift heavy weights, reassuring her that lifting heavy would not bulk her up. He also taught her to focus on large muscle groups. She feels that her body and mind are much stronger. Her favorite exercises are the Turkish Get-Up and the snatch, even though they did not come easy.
A kettlebell is a cannonball with a handle. The kettlebell handle is offset from the kettlebell's center of mass. This requires you to use all of your stabilizing muscles to hold onto the bell. A kettlebell that is the same weight as a dumbbell requires more work to stabilize. The kettlebell is one of the best tools to improve strength, power, conditioning, flexibility and.
I started training with Farrah at 198 lbs. I had been fumbling around on my own for almost a year, and was struggling to lose another 18 lbs to reach my goal weight of 180. After six months with Farrah, I was down to 173 and feeling great. The great thing about Farrah is that she not only worked with me to make my workouts interesting, but she also taught me so much about what to eat and what not to eat.

Farrah doesn't have a studio anymore because of Covid, but I've been taking private lessons from her and I can't say enough about what a good teacher she is. Knowledgeable, patient and friendly. My highest recommendation.

My all time favorite workout and favorite trainer. Farrah at Hillcrest Kettlebells is great at setting a healthy pace for the class and helping with proper form. She creates a fun environment and is one of the least intimidating and knowledgable trainers I've worked with.

I’ve been training with Farrah for over a year and you won’t find a better trainer. She gives everyone personal attention even during group workouts and she really emphasizes safety. She makes sure you’re not doing anything that can lead to injury or make an existing injury worse. Her workouts are challenging and she accommodates all fitness levels. If you’re a woman who who wants to get strong and finds the weight areas at traditional gyms intimidating, Farrah’s classes are perfect for you.
When gyms had to shut down due to COVID, she got creative and started offering virtual live classes

I've been taking Farrah's online kettlebell classes for the last 5 months over zoom. Farrah is a dedicated professional who is passionate about helping her clients achieve their fitness goals with kettlebells. She provides challenging workouts and offers suggestions for substitute exercises if needed. Always communicating and providing corrections during class, she takes time to explain the mechanics of the movements and what you should be feeling.

She offers privates (outdoors) and classes 6 days/week. The workouts are fun and challenging and always start on time!

I am so glad to return to swinging kettle bells with Farrah and Hillcrest Kettlebells. I had trained with Farrah at Iron Core 10 years ago and she continues to bring the same energy and attention to teaching proper technique and encouraging me to get stronger that she had at Iron Core. I had been looking for a real kettlebell gym since my last one, KxT, closed and I am thrilled to be at Hillcrest Kettlebells. Some gyms "say" they use kettlebells, but they don't really know how to teach proper, RKC certified, techniques and that can lead to injury - I've been to those gyms

I LOVE Hillcrest Kettlebells. I'm writing this review after 3 years of consistent workouts here -- at least 3 days per week. Farrah and George are awesome, their clients are awesome, and I enjoy each workout. They change the routines regularly, so it's never boring. The workouts are hard and provide a great way to burn calories and build strength. Farrah and George are insightful, engaging and encouraging. I've been here for years and I'll be here for many more to come.

I can't say enough good things about Hillcrest Kettlebells, Farrah and George! I love the small class sizes (7 people max) because you get very helpful personal feedback. Farrah and George both pay great attention to detail to help with form and prevent injuries. Farrah has such a positive, upbeat personality and I love taking her classes! Prices are very fair, especially for SoCal and for having such small sized classes.

10 stars is more like it.

Before relocating to LA recently, I'd been coming to this gem of a place for about a year and I can't say enough good things about this place. Listen to your fellow Yelpers! I only wish there was a place like this near my hood in LA!

The vibe of the place, encouragement from the instructors George & Farrah, and the workout routines are on point.

I miss this place!

I do not know how to convey how much I love this place and Farrah. I'd wanted to try kettlebells for two years, did a lot of research, and finally decided to do the scary thing and begin. What attracted me was their focus on proper form and individual support to keep you from hurting yourself, but what's making me an absolutely enthusiastic customer is how friendly Farrah and other members are and how customized every workout is.

Classes are small, more like individual training than a big, impersonal workout. Farrah keeps a close eye to give feedback and move you up in weights as

I've been coming here for about a year, and I can't say enough good things about Farrah and George (husband and wife owners and trainers).

Both are incredibly dedicated to their clients and provide unique, challenging workouts everyday. I never found exercise to be rewarding until coming here and seeing progress under their guidance. I lost weight, got stronger and made new friends that keep me coming back!

The two mandatory private sessions are very helpful to learn basic technique. From there the classes are affordable, about $13/class when you buy a pack of 20. The gym is small and

Farrah and George are awesome instructors! The group workouts are small, so you will get plenty of feedback. The workouts are challenging but doable.

If you've been thinking about trying kettle bells, I highly recommend this place. Try it! You won't be sorry you did.

Farrah is AWESOME, and I'm definitely addicted to kettlebell workouts now.

You start off with two 1-hour private lessons from her at $45 each. The value is worth every penny because she watches your form very carefully, and tailors the weight to you. I love how it's set up because having this proper instruction truly minimizes your risk of injury from using improper form to lift heavy weight. This 2-class "pre-instruction" is required before the group classes, but seriously worth every penny for the safety of your body!

On top of that, she is super encouraging and knows how

I started working out at Hillcrest Kettlebells just over three years ago. As a former college athlete I was looking for a workout program that combined strength, cardio, and something that was fun and engaging. A coworker suggested that I try Hillcrest Kettlebells and I was instantly into it 100%. The small group classes give you enough one-on-one feedback to correct your form and feel more like personal training sessions than group classes. Farrah and George are truly passionate about fitness, health and overall wellness. They are constantly attending continuing education classes and are active

I have been training with Farrah and George at Hillcrest Kettlebells for almost 2 years now and I consider it an essential part of my regimen. I have tried many different fitness modalities including weightlifting, running, martial arts, hiking, yoga, pilates, etc. and I find kettlebells to be unique.
From my very first class, which included a thorough evaluation of my form and posture, I noticed that kettlebell exercises highlighted a major deficiency in my technique - moving energy from my lower body through my waist to my upper body. So it not only trains "the core" but facilitates the functional

I was interested in kettlebells but was intimidated in trying something new after not consistently working out for over a year and a half. A friend recommended Hillcrest Kettlebells and after speaking with Farrah I was excited to give it a try. Farrah's personal training is incredibly helpful and she is patient. Group classes are small and friendly. I have lost weight and increased strength. The best part is I have toned my butt and thighs which can be difficult to do with the average gym workout! If your are looking for a full body workout that produces great results in a friendly environment

Farrah and George are easily some of the best instructors/trainers I've worked with. They take time to explain the movements, and it's never rushed. I was new to kettlebells, and now I'm hooked. The studio is small, so you really get personalized attention, even in a class. The people who attend are fun and supportive. I can't say enough nice things about them.

Online registration makes it so easy to schedule your classes. At first I was skeptical about paying by the class, but it's made me super accountable, not that I'd ever want to miss a class anyway. I think

I keep trying to make this about Farrah at Hillcrest Kettlebells, but all I can think is, "Dang I look great!"

The program is low-impact on my old bones and highly efficient and effective. Strength, cardio and core all in one. And Farrah is the best.

Thanks Farrah!

I discovered kettlebells about 3 years ago when my roommate at the time referred me to a friend of his that was a trainer and I was hooked after the first swing! I can honestly say kettlebell training has changed my life. I had hit a plateau on my weight loss journey and after being introduced to this addictive and wonderful workout, I lost over 100 pounds! I've never felt better in my life! Kettlebells combines cardio and strength in such an efficient manner, that you immediately see an impact!

I was devastated when a little over a year ago my trainer told me he was closing his practice

After building a kettlebell training practice in San Diego (the now defunct kettlebody.com), my life took me to San Francisco. The first trainer I called to take over all of my clients was Farrah Lin. I had been regularly taking her classes myself for over a year, and I knew that my clients would love training with her and that she would take them to the next level of fitness.

It's very rare to find a trainer with as much passion, energy, and technical expertise as Farrah. She inspires while she trains, and she does it with love (and great music!). Her sparkling personality and inventive
