Apple Works Winery
Once an orchard, Apple Works Winery at Behnke Estates is a hand-crafted winery known for award-winning, barrel-aged red wines. A variety of wines from dry to semi-sweet, small bites, beer, and wine flights are available. To address concerns prior to your visit, we've developed a list for everyone to read up on.

Many of these items such as high attention to cleaning and the use of a high-temperature dishwasher are just a few of the things we were already used to doing. Thank you in advance for respecting our operating procedures and we are here to help make your visits as enjoyable as possible. As an avid engineer and entrepreneur at heart, Kevin Behnke has been a forward-thinking visionary who is always on-the-go.
Services
As its name indicates, Apple Works Winery is located on what was previously an orchard. Over 30 years ago, world-renowned heart surgeon, Dr. W. Dudley Johnson, set out on an adventure to plant certified-organic apple trees in an effort to fulfill a hobby of providing healthy products and farm-life activities for the local community.

Building itself is very nice however experience overall very disappointing. The lady behind the bar was not very inviting or friendly. They force you to buy a flight because they do not offer tastings. In addition, do not dare ask to try a variety of both red and white on your flight because they decline and will make you purchase both separately. Only one out of the eight wines tired were drinkable but the price tags were not reasonable.

Great place!! I am not a whine drinker, but they have some excellent beer options as well! Family owned and operated local business, get out and support them.

This place made us feel so safe and welcomed. They are taking so many positive precautions to make sure that their staff and customers are safe. Places to enjoy outside even in cooler weather (heaters and tents). I was very happy with the service and the wines (and cheese plate) were excellent too! Highly recommend!!

My family was in town for the weekend so we decided to check out some local wineries that I haven't been to (for some reason) and we Googled the area and found this one. Cute little off the road place. Once we stepped in and saw how beautiful, quiet and elegant this place was we decide to sit outside. (My family can be a little loud) Kevin was kind enough to accommodate us and bring the tastings outside. My family is very mixed when it comes to reds and whites. I found the sweets to be fantastic. I used to be a Moscato girl and have switched to fruity reds, but the spring sunrise, summer sunset

Was looking for a nice winery within an hour or two of Chicago’s far north burbs. Searched Google and found this highly-reviewed winery. Drove the backroads there from Lindenhurst (IL) all the way to Germantown. Beautiful fall Sunday drive! Property seems to be a converted farm and the main retail space is to your left as you drive into the property. We arrived at dusk so reduced visibility did not allow for great perspective of the property, but from what we could see it was large and beautifully-updated by current owners. The owners were warm, inviting, and friendly. Conversation flowed smoothly

We stopped there for sample, tried some, paid (before we got our chips) went to leave stopped us at door and acussed us of not paying, and we said we paid you $12 CASH and you put it in your pocket, stuck his hand in and pulled it out and went on, and walked away, so you would be best not to visit,

Apple Works is a hidden gem of German Town. The wine is great and service is fantastic. The owners served us and shared stories behind each of their wines. They have a a cozy rustic tasting room and a great secluded patio. We will definitely be back soon. $6 for a tasting of five wines. $15-30 for bottles.

Just opened in July 2016, this mom and pop winery sits on an orchard in Germantown. Owners Kevin and Lisa built the place themselves and make all their wines right there on site. They import juices from Chile and California to add special flavors to their wines. They make about a dozen wines, and you can sample them in their tasting room. The tasting costs $6, and you get to try 5 wines. They give you a list of their wines with descriptions, in which the whites are arranged from dry to sweet, and the reds are arranged from light-bodied to full-bodied. Some of my favorites are the Merlola, Red Wine
