British Auto Repair
Other British auto repair shops will tell you that they meet factory requirements and provide great tune-ups and scheduled maintenance - so will we. But we go further, providing same-day repairs for most customers and keeping rates competitive, even when it means working longer hours. We do all this because we love your car (almost) as much as you do.

When you bring it in, we're eager to get our hands on it and even more eager to get it back in yours. The years have taught us that British auto repair clients, like their cars, keep busy. That's why most of our Land Rover customers enjoy same-day service, and we work on other cars quickly and efficiently.
Services
Between us, the staff members of British Auto SD have 50 years of experience in British car repairs. We are a business of family and friends, and that's how we treat all of our customers here in San Diego. We love cars (and racing them), but we value the ties we have maintained within our community over the last 30 years at our current location.
Sometimes, we take our cars for granted. But every now and then, they need attention. From diagnostics to tune-ups to restorations, we do British car repair so that when you leave, you can go back to taking your car for granted. Here's a list of just a few of our British car repair services. Rewiring (sometimes, the harness doesn't have to be replaced, but the connections need cleaning or rewiring).
British Auto Repair had a successful weekend at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Paul's #26 finished 2nd overall in the Sunday Trophy race, and in the Sunday morning qualifying race, he set a new personal best lap time, shaving more than 2 seconds off. Unfortunately, Randy's #27 car broke the crankshaft on Saturday morning and he was done for the weekend.
Frederick Simms with his Motor Scout, the first armed petrol engine-powered vehicle in the world. The British motor industry began with a friendship: Frederick Simms met Gottlieb Daimler, from whom he bought the rights to sell and manufacture Gottlieb's high-speed petrol engine, among other patents.
I have taken my vehicle here several times and I could not be happier. Paul is amazing and extremely focused on customer service. He has gone out of his way to make sure parts are to his shop in a timely manner in order for repairs to be done quickly. Pricing is beyond reasonable. I trust Paul 100% and would highly recommend checking him out!

These guys are too cool! I had a weird noise that had been going on for a few weeks. Joe looked at it and found my skid plate was loose. They fixed it for free!!
Oscar and Joe were really friendly and knowledgeable. I am definitely going back for all future auto needs.

I towed my 88 Land Rover Discovery last summer to get O2 Sensors replaced and have it ready to pass smog and I NEVER GET UPDATES OR CALL BACKS ON WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY DISCOVERY!!! I've called and keep getting the same story with no solution. I went down there and same story no solution. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY I AM BEING IGNORED. I am a very patient person but this is by far the worst service I have ever received.

Good luck getting them to work on your car. I made several attempts to get Paul, the owner, to work on my MGB but he never came through. He kept asking me to call him back as there were other jobs he was finishing. (made sense at first) Each time I did, I would have to run through my whole story. He said he was going to come to my house to pick up my engine and never showed up. I called him back and two more times he gave me days that he said he would reach out to me and never even bothered to call me and let me know he wouldn't make it. I guess I'm glad I avoided an even longer waiting

Traveling through from Georgia and Paul not only entertained my story telling but also got me back on the road with a new wheel speed sensor and a front driveshaft they installed. He got me in that week and with reasonable prices considering I was in the big city.

I have a Land Rover LR2- when it breaks I brace for price tag impact. Not at all the case here. Unreal positive experience. Owner stayed open late for us to fight traffic and pick up our car...which was repaired same day. Extremely reasonable prices on parts and definitely on labor. Then he was super cool with my 5 year old and showed him some photos from his navy days (owned by retired navy SCPO) I would recommend this shop to anyone with a British manufactured vehicle or any car he’s will to service.

Read this carefully & make better decisions than I did... Took an inherited vehicle (in the family for 43 years) to British Auto repair. Reviews seemed "good." Owner (Paul) didn't scare me off. Car isn't driven much at all but, after owning it for 2 years, I thought an oil change might be worthwhile. Told him, "to let me know of any recommendations." Told him I'd be back in 2 weeks to pick it up. Called Paul 2 weeks later to find out it he had driven it into another car (collision) on their lot. Never got called/notified, no apology offered but told me he

Well this is an odd play of events. Paul the owner of British Auto Repair; has had my Triumph TR6 for 2 years!

Basically we decided that we would go get the parts and car; from the current mechanic (not working on my car).
I felt quite confident in Paul. He had a shop full of tools. Spare parts bins seemed to be in organized shape. Being mechanically minded myself, I've seen cleaner shops; but hardly!

I asked him if he needed a down payment; or any kind of starter money. He said let me just get to work; I'll let you know (payment) as we go! Boy that was a nice feeling!

Paul was super helpful and saved me a ton of money on my Range Rover break job. He was finished on time, gave me a ride to my office while the work was being done and even got my car washed as they had a little extra time. I would highly recommend them and go back in the future.

Phoned ahead and made an appointment to have an oil leak fixed on my MGB and a couple of other minor things. Work performed to perfection, on time, reasonably priced. It's like they are in business to help their customers not rip them off by doing the unwanted and/or the unneeded. I'll happily bring the car back her for service, and I live 200 miles away in Arizona!

Paul is a really kind person, and he knows his British cars. I have a 73 Spitfire... So I get to know my mechanic pretty well! They price their work fairly, and they understand the concept of a budget. They are also distributors for Moss parts. They service all British made cars... Range Rover, Jaguar, MG, Triumph, Austin... All that cool stuff.

This is the only place to take your British vehicle. Paul is honest, thorough and much more reasonable and competent than the Landrover dealer in town. I started with Paul 5 years ago when the dealer told me I needed $6000 in repairs. Paul completed a thorough diagnostic check of my LR3 for $100 and determined nothing really needed to be done. Turns out he was right. I have had several other repairs done with him since then and he is simply the only one I would ever consider going to in SD for service on my LR3.

Great British shop. They did a great job on my MG. Very fair pricing. Paul has been around MGs and British cars for years and knows the ins and outs. The shop is neat and organized.

I have mixed, funky feelings about this shop. I waited for a moment when I wasn't frustrated out of the financial stress of this so that I could write without being brutally subjective.

I gave stars because the owner Paul, has been great in the aspect of customer service in a few ways. He waited around after hours until I got off of work to diagnose one of my vehicles. Another time, he walked me through an issue step-by-step over the phone with my other vehicle. And lastly, it is nice that work gets done pretty quickly.

2 different types of vehicles - makes/models/years were brought in on

I will NOT go back or recommend anyone to this shop. This guy is incompetent and dishonest. He charges a lot for small jobs just because he can, he doesn't respect people's time, he tells you it will take one week and than he tells you that he can't find the part or he's got a lots of work of whatever other excuse he can tell you just so he can charge you more money, do your homework before going over their!

Paul is honest, knowledgeable, courteous, sincere and passionate about his work all of which are obvious after just a few minutes of speaking with him. I inherited a 2001 Discovery 2 which I love but it's a toy I can't really afford. That being said I was having recurring misfiring problems and was starting to panic thinking my engine was about to blow. I called in and got Paul on the phone who calmly walked me through a couple of scenarios with concise, detailed explanations about what the issues might be and how to go about addressing them. He started at the lowest common denominator

I've known Paul for many years and have worked with him on my MGB and in his previous career as an HVAC engineer. He's very knowledgeable, fair, friendly, and helpful. One of the best decisions I've made in the past year was to ask Paul and Lazlo to rebuild my MGB engine and gearbox. They did great work, found a few hard-to-source parts, changed out some of the non-original parts for originals they had saved over the years. Best of all, the car runs great! They really love their work and it shows in every aspect of the business.

I came in today because my 05 Range Rover was about to overheat. They looked at it and diagnosed the problem within minutes. They repaired the hose and did various tests. They eased my concern and doubts. Very professional and excellent customer service. I will be coming back next week to have some preventive maintenance done. Thank you Paul

Paul runs an honest and professional shop! We have taken our LR3 there multiple times and are always thrilled with the service we receive. He clearly has a love for British cars and it is always fun to stop by the shop and chat. His prices are extremely fair and he has never failed to make our car right.

New Owner and new management = amazing!! :)

I don't ever write reviews, however, I felt the need in this case because I don't think its fair that the new owner is associated with the old/negative reviews. Paul, the new owner, is great to work with.

I have an 06' Range Rover, and now I have experienced both Land Rover Dealership Service and British Auto service, both provide a fantastic level of service, however, the big difference and when I saw big, I mean huge difference is the price!! I highly recommend going to British Auto for any British Auto needs. Great prices. Great

The reviews are true. Don't bring your car here! At first the owner, Ian, was so nice, friendly and seemly accommodating-- offering to give me ride back to my house while he worked on my car acting like they really go above and beyond here.

I was having engine problems and alignment issues. I brought my car here multiple times in an attempt to diagnose and fix the problem to no avail and disastrous problems I had to deal with.

The car was shaking when I drove over 50 mph. LRS test drove the car and said it was fine and gave it back to me. I paid for the assessment and they sent me on my
