Whether your pain and other symptoms have an anatomical basis, visible on good radiological studies, or you have "test negative" pain-a painful condition not detectable on X-rays or other studies-or a bit of both, you can never be treated successfully without an accurate diagnosis.
As simple and true as this is, too much time, effort, and money (insurance payments, personal funds, and cost of absenteeism) is wasted on wrong diagnoses and inappropriate or totally incorrect treatments.Unfortunately, insurers do not reward physicians with higher reimbursement for correct diagnosis and for offering the treatment(s) designed to maximize the functional capacity of patients.

After studying various films, Dr. Hiesiger diagnosed my problem and precisely explained procedures he could perform which would help relieve my pain. Because of his calm, confident demeanor, I immediately trusted in his ability to help me. The procedures performed were successful and I am almost pain free.
Because no one can determine what another person feels, diagnosing and treating pain is a challenge, making it difficult for family members, friends, the medical profession, and insurance companies to understand. Still, pain can be managed even when the underlying causes of it - such as cancer, osteoporosis or injury - cannot.
The International Association for the Study of Pain defines pain as "an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience that we primarily associate with tissue damage or describe in terms of such damage." The definition of pain has two parts. One part deals with the sensation of tissue damage: a burn is perceived as different from a blow from a hammer to your thumb.
The treatment of chronic pain (defined as pain lasting more than three months) requires many decisions before relief can be achieved. From the most important decision of choosing a physician to getting an accurate diagnosis, selecting the best treatment option for your specific problem, and the economic decision of how to pay for the ever-increasing cost of your healthcare.

Dangerous, self absorbed, lack of credibility, dismissal from major
institution , threatening when confronted with the absurdity of his
misrepresentations....after 23 plus years, I have observed his decline
but learned too late of his latent penchant for creating difficulty for
those who challenge his credibility.

Words cannot adequatley describe the gratitude that I have for Dr. Hiesiger he saved my life! 15 years ago I was crippled with a horrific spinal fusion that went horribly wrong, Dr. Hiesiger & Dr. Benjamin gave me a quality of life that I never dreamed was possible. You will not find a more competent & compassionate doctor in the entire East Coast. Dr. Hiesiger has dedicated his life to giving patients like me a quality of life that truly is worth living. I read the other review on this site & it couldn't be farther from the truth, Dr. Hiesiger has always treated me with such class & dignity not
