But having the right therapist is the most important decision for your treatment. I want to make that search easy for you, so please take your time in reviewing my website and learning more about how I can support you. I want you to feel safe, supported and at ease in sharing some of the most vulnerable and intimate details of your life.

If I'm not cultivating that environment, I'm not doing my job. I book therapy appointments only by appointment. Generally, available times for therapy appointments include weekends, some Fridays and evenings. Sadness is part of our healthy emotional range. But when we begin to struggle with depression, it's time to reach out for professional help.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a scientifically tested form of psychotherapy. It is a solution-focused approach based in learning new skills to solving problems. Through CBT, we explore your current thinking in order to improve your mood and behavior. My goal is to help you become your own therapist, not a lifelong client.
The cognitive model of depression focuses CBT treatment on cognitive bias. Treating depression may include acknowledging patterns of negative thinking, examining the validity and utility of our thinking, and finding more helpful ways of thinking about ourselves, the world and others i.e. Cognitive Triad.
I think hypermasculinity can best be thought of as an identification with physical prowess and tolerance of "pain." For men, these definitions have brought centuries of success as survivors, providers and warriors. But there are negatives to holding these traits as a primary identity.

Some of the negative consequences you may be facing include anger, substance abuse, justice involvement, intimacy, marriage, work, relationship, friendship, health and many more issues, which are adversely impacting your quality of life. You're not alone. Call me today for a free psychotherapy consultation on how to improve your life.
Psychotherapy in West Los Angeles for Caregivers and Family Members Impacted by Mental Health Issues. Having a loved one or family member struggling with mental health, physical health or substance abuse issues is the culmination of our worst fears. Trying to navigate resources, your level of involvement and still finding ways of caring for yourself requires tremendous balance, and doing these things alone often leads to burnout.
Mental Health issues impact over a quarter of the US population every year (almost half the population over a lifetime). In America, we've built our culture on mantras like "pull yourself up by your bootstraps." Mantras that assume we should solve our own problems without help. But this thinking doesn't help.

While I'm not a client of Nick's I have been a first hand witness to the time, effort, and commitment he's made to being the best therapist he can be. His driving force really is that he genuinely wants to help people become the best version of themselves they can be.

I am currently a second year MSW graduate student at the University of Southern California. I was Nick Holt's first year MSW intern at Veterans and Loved Ones Recovery (VALOR) and Women's Community and Reintegration Program (WCRP). As a first year graduate student I didn't know what to expect from a difficult internship at Los Angles County… Department of Mental Health, however, Nick was an amazing MSW supervisor and field instructor who kindly welcomed me and exposed me to a variety of challenging experiences including outreach and engagement with homeless veterans, crisis intervention
