The Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, P.A. was established by John Garrison Etchison in 1848. Originally called M.R. Etchison and Son, the establishment had several different locations in downtown Frederick - including East Patrick and North Market Street addresses before moving into its current location at 106 East Church Street in 1939.
Staff members of Keeney & Basford P.A. Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors. Our code of behavior is simple: serve, as you would be served.
The goods and services shown below are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire. However, any arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide describing the goods and services you selected.
Why Does VA Provide a Burial Flag? A United States flag is provided, at no cost, to drape the casket or accompany the urn of a deceased Veteran who served honorably in the U. S. Armed Forces. It is furnished to honor the memory of a Veteran's military service to his or her country. Who Is Eligible to Receive the Burial Flag?

All four of my grandparents have now been honored and their lives celebrated here. Their professionalism and demeanor are unmatched. They are kind helpful to those who have never served as pallbearers before. They realize though the process of events is everyday to them, it is not for those partaking of the tradition. For that, their quick assertiveness is most appropriate and appreciated

Keeney and Basford exceeded our expectations for handling all of the details of my father's viewing and burial. They were helpful to us at every turn and provided superior, respectful service. Their home is just beautiful and they way they prepared the room where my father was for the viewing impressed us all and made me so happy. I would highly recommend Keeney and Basford!
