Nestled in the rolling hills of rural Madison County, Iowa, our family winery takes its name from the rich history of the local covered bridges. The fertile soils of the North River basin and traditional winemaking techniques combine to elicit the subtle flavors and aromas of our native and French-American hybrid grapes.

Our wines are a perfect complement to an elegant meal or a casual get together with friends. We love to serve visitors at the winery on the weekends. We also have frequent music, food, and wine tasting events for people to relax and enjoy. If you haven't been here yet, we look forward to meeting you soon!

Imes Bridges is a port styled dessert wine with an Iowa twist. A fortified blend of Frontenac and Norton that is smoky on the nose with a ruby colored body and tawny edges. The body of a cabernet with the soul of Iowa, this hearty red wine strikes a perfect balance between sweetness and bite. Rich black currant and earthy flavors make this a perfect pairing with chili, burgers, brats, steaks and chops.
Chad Elliott's soulful, foot-stomping shows are incredible. His laid-back storytelling and his skillful fingerpicking help to weave his well-crafted songs together for an evening of pure entertainment. Averaging more than 200 shows per year, Elliott has been on the road for nearly 20 years performing a blend of Americana, roots and country music.
Covered Bridges Winery tasting room is located at 2207 170th Trail, Winterset, Iowa (just off Hwy 169, north of Winterset). If you are coming to harvest, please follow these directions to our vineyard. The Covered Bridges Winery vineyard is located two miles north and west of Winterset, Iowa. Please do NOT use Mapquest or other GPS based software to find the vineyard, unless you really like scenic excursions!

This has got to be the worst service I have ever seen stood at the bar to get 12 bottles of wine for a party and just kept getting skipped over after 20 min I just left if there was a 0 star that is what this place would get

This is a wonderful place with a beautiful view during sunset. Stop here for a glass of wine or take a whole bottle home.

Came in from out of town and thought I’d check out the winery because they had a dueling fiddle event. Arrived early as was recommended on their Facebook page.
I went to grab a table and a woman who I’m assuming worked there, or may have been an owner, told me not to sit there the table was reserved, although there was nothing indicating that the table was reserved. She was pretty rude about it. The other tables were filling up quickly so I bought a bottle of wine and left disappointed.
It wasn’t a great first impression, probably won’t be back even though I frequent the area based on

Best pizza in Des Moines area. Had the sausage, pepperoni and meatball pizza adding cheddar cheese. Thin crust that was crisp and the sauce was wonderful. Get the cheese bread it is also delectable. Service was very good

We enjoyed our visit. Wine tasting was not free, but not expensive and we thought it was worth the price. The winery manager was very friendly and shared a lot of information about the winery and the Winterset area. Very scenic site. Everyone has different tastes, but my wife and I enjoyed and purchased several wines. It is worth stopping for a visit.

This is a good winery. A good selection. A beautiful tasting room. I wish they would have told me about the chocolate pairing before I was checking out. I would have liked to try it. The gal giving the tastings was nice but definitely flustered from a few people doing tastings. I would recommend a visit to this place. It was quite nice.
