Family-owned and operated since 1994, Clayton's has grown from humble beginnings as a gourmet wine and cheese shop in downtown Yarmouth to a fixture in the community and a destination spot north of Portland for the best overstuffed sandwiches, delectable soups, salads, and fresh-baked goods around. We also specialize in sweets ranging from nostalgic penny candy to fine chocolates, a carefully chosen wine selection and coffee and espresso drinks from Coffee by Design.

Served on grilled Borealis sourdough, organic whole-wheat sourdough, a jumbo Thomas' English Muffin or a wrap - gluten-free multi-grain or wrap, add $1.00. Lightly spread with real butter and our lemon-dill mayo.

Unless specified, sandwiches are served on fresh-baked Borealis sourdough. Also available: organic whole-wheat sourdough, and herb or whole-wheat wrap; Gluten-free options: wrap or multi-grain bread. We use only the finest chunk all-white albacore tuna and toss it with dijonnaise, roasted sunflower seeds, celery, and red onion.

We've come to absolutely love Clayton's Café and Bakery, and recommend them to others without hesitation! A great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch, and of course for a little sweet treat on those days when you just really need one. The clam chowder and whoopie pies are among our favorites. A huge thank-you to the team for offering such a great experience, always with a friendly smile! We look forward to frequenting Clayton's for years to come!

Most have decided to either consistently bow in obedience to intellectually defunct requirements, or alternately have chosen to only patronize businesses that encourage public gathering, social interaction, and acceptance of all. I am of the latter. Faced with a very blunt and aggressive sign at the door, I will never visit this establishment again. Excellent sandwiches and baked goods. Staff was friendly and service was quick. I had their classic chicken salad sandwich and it was excellent. I am picky about chicken salad sandwiches, and this was hands down one of if not the best I’ve had. Good flavors, just the right amount of mayo, great bread. Highly recommend you try this spot out.

Delightful stop along US 1. The patio was bustling when we showed up and people were ordering from the kitchen side. There was also another counter serving baked goods so we got a few to try. I especially loved the pumpkin cheesecake with a really tasty crust and filling that was not too sweet, but flavorful. There is a whole section of candy in the back, and signs around the store showcasing the accolades. Coffee was good and fresh, food looked good, and highly recommend as a stop just outside of Portland.

If you're looking for a good deli & bakery along rt. #1, in Yarmouth, Maine . . . Clayton's is the place! I would rate this place a 4.5 out of 5 !
I like fresh sandwiches made to order! I actually enjoyed an oven roasted turkey sandwich with homemade cheeseburger soup . . . Monday! Then went back for a roastbeef and cheddar cheese sandwich with a homemade taco soup on Friday!

How CUTE is this place? Yarmouth has a little gem in this cafe. Exceptional service, deli items were great, a star away only because falafel is not their strongest wrap and definitely not a specialty. Will absolutely come back and try the variety of other sandwiches and soups they have to offer. Happy I found them.
