Galer Estate Vineyard & Winery
Brad and Lele Galer started Galer Estate Vineyard and Winery in 2005 when they created a 7 acre vineyard on their home property in Pocopson. With expert viticulture consulting from Lucie Morton, and Vineyard Management from Jan Grimes, the "Home Vineyard" was planted.

In 2007, the Galers bought "Folly Hill Winery" on 700 Folly Hill Road in Kennett Square, and then proceeded on a 4 year re-construction plan that included a state-of-the art Fermentation room, art-inspired tasting room, replanted vineyard, French oak barrel room and wine bottling and labeling facility. We opened to the public in November of 2011, and have won over 150 medals and awards for our Chester County produced and made wines.
Services
Our Single Vineyard Designate wines are thoughtfully created to represent the characteristics and terroir of the vineyard. This wine is simply named after the small Chardonnay vineyard block - Red Lion Chardonnay. The Icon Series are meticulously grown and cellared to represent the varietal character of the wine and express the grape in the glass.
Galer Estate Wine Club members receive a special allocation of four bottles, three times a year, thoughtfully selected by our winemaker. On pick-up day, which is the first Friday of February, June & October, you and a guest will be able to enjoy a tasting of the new releases with tasting notes led by our winemaker, a barrel tasting & enjoy hors d'oeuvres from local shops while connecting with other members.
The Galer Estate winery tasting room is located in the heart of the Brandywine Valley, Chester County, Pennsylvania, just behind the world famous Longwood Gardens. Galer Estate offers many locally sourced food items including fresh baked baguettes, locally made cheese, and spreads. The design of the winery is a mixture of style and function, using state of the art equipment, engineered gravity flow and an open floor design.
Our most popular room, Red Lion Tasting Room, can seat up to 25 people and features a fireplace, bathroom, and additional seating on the Red Lion deck. Larger groups can utilize an indoor and outdoor space. Galer Estate is proud to partner with many local non-profits and is allowed to host non-profit fundraising events at the winery.
We are also open on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and evenings of Longwood Gardens Fireworks Display. Do you allow children? We make no exceptions for newborns, infants, toddlers, children, teenagers or any other individual under 21 years of age. Galer Estate's wine tasting consists of 4 wines at one ounce pours, from the available wine list.

Had a really great time here today and the service was fantastic and the view as well. I'm not sure how there are bad reviews here at all. We had an amazing time and the wine was good and the cheese and crackers. Will definitely come back.

This review was from the summer, but forgot to post it, FYI!! The grounds were gorgeous and weather perfect and we sat outside!!

This tucked away winery has so much to offer! We totally enjoyed our time (only a few other people and the property was huge so we basically had it to ourselves) wandering around and exploring + drinking their locally produced wine. We first did a flight ($15 - very reasonable) the sparkling Chardonnay was lovely and made from grapes growing right in front of us! We loved the Pinot Gris and ended up buying a bottle. The rosé was a little sour for us but it had notes of hibiscus and raspberry! Lastly, had never tried a Cabernet Franc before and now definitely would again! Excellent wine with absolutely

Beautiful winery my mom and checked out a bit ago, loved the location, the ample seating, the service, and of course the wine. I enjoyed that were several different vastly different areas to sit. We had a tasting flight indoors and then brought a bottle outside by a fire but which was unbelievably relaxing as someone even came out to tend to the fire so it stayed warm while we sat with views of the beautiful vineyard. Every wine that we tried was better than the last. Great place to go on a date or have a girls day. You are able to bring your own food as well.

Love this winery! Beautiful outdoor space overlooking the vineyard. Nice selection of wines and I always look forward to stopping by for a tasting! They offer a selection of snacks but you are welcome to bring your own food as well.

My husband and I are actually going tomorrow afternoon for a parents happy hour out without the kiddos! So excited!!

I really enjoyed my time at the Galer Estate Vinyard & Winery. I got a tasting of 4 wines, and they were pretty good. I'm a bit of a wine snob and have been having a hard time finding really good wine in PA. The wine here was delicious. I really enjoyed the scenery and ambiance as well.

Cousins weekend which basically means wine weekend. All six cousins decided to check out Galer on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It looked like beautiful grounds and great metalwork, but couldn't really explore much of the outside because of rain.

Once we got inside, we were met with pleasant staff and some recommendations. Four of us opted for the tasting flights while one had coffee (we are all 60+ so good to have a DD even when not drinking) and another a glass of the signature Red Lion Chardonnay.

The Chardonnay was not favored by most of us, but one in the group thought it would a nice

This is such a beautiful winery! A group of us went for a wine tasting and everything about our visit was great! Everyone was very nice and every single wine we tasted (which we did end up doing two rounds of tastings) was absolutely delicious! It's such a nice, relaxing place and I hope I get the chance to go back to Galer Estate!

Staff unfriendly and unwelcoming. There are many other lovely vineyards with better vintages in the area to visit.

Wow! We are visiting from San Francisco, where we own a wine bar, with our 4 year old and weren't able to even taste the wine here. I think this is the very first winery out of about one hundred that we've visited/frequented to that we were turned away because we had the audacity to have a child. Thankfully we were able to find another winery down the road that welcomed parents with their children.

Came to enjoy a quiet afternoon at the cottage attached to the winery that my parents had rented. Recognizing that the tasting room is listed as 21 and over, we quietly kept to ourselves allowing my parents to spend some time with their grandchildren several hundred feet from the tasting room. However, the tasting room manager chose to extend the 21 and over policy to the rented cottage and denigrate my parents.

I'm all for an honest and open "no child" policy, however the website does not clearly mark this for any other area besides the tasting room. Even so, reviewing yelp

Absolutely beautiful grounds, a rustic tasting room, this winery captures the very essence of bucolic Chester County. Oh, and the wines we sampled were quite fine . A must visit along the Brandywine Valley wine trail.

Great location and wonderful outside patio with a view! I wasn't too impressed with the wine, or the price for that matter. I guess it's okay if you like white wine, but my bf and I are more into the reds and there was a limited selection here. Because they only had one red with their tasting, we just decided to purchase a glass each instead.

We originally sat outside, but it was too hot and the bugs forced us back inside. There is limited seating inside, but luckily we got a spot at the bar. We also decided to split a cheese box and bought some chocolate. Save your money on

My fiancée and I were staying in Chadds Ford for the night and wanted to spend some time at a winery in the afternoon. Galer was perfect! Very easy to get to- it's right behind Longwood Gardens and is much less commercialized than other wineries in the area. We each did the wine tasting and then bought two bottles (one tasting was free then) and opened one bottle to have a glass outside on the deck overlooking the vineyard.

The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable, the process seemed a little rushed though. I also wish we were able to do our tasting outside as opposed to having to

It's been a while since I've visited Galer- and I noticed a number of changes. The most important of which is the price of the wine.

I didn't mind paying $16 for a bottle of decent rose to support the cause - I want our local wineries to thrive . But they are now asking $27 for the huntress rose. That is simply bar pricing markup- because there is no way that it would hold up in a bottle to bottle comparison with other $27 bottles from the state store.

I guess as long as people are willing to pay it, they will be able to charge it -- but it certainly eliminated any inclination
