In 2009, my son wanted a skateboard cake for his birthday, so we searched our tiny town and found few options! I decided that day to make my son's cake and have never looked back. I posted his skateboard on a {then new} social media platform, Facebook, and quickly had friends asking for orders for their kids as well.
What started as a simple cake for my son turned into a great small business for me, and I founded She Makes Cakes. I worked from my home, licensed by the county of SLO. She Makes Cakes allowed me to work from home, managing my own schedule and introduced me to amazing clients in our community. Having worked as a manager in large retail stores for most of my life, I knew how to bring in my customers, but I didn't know the first thing about baking.

I am so glad I found this place. I was looking for a last-minute birthday cake. I spoke to Natalie, who was so kind and helpful. She even sent pics of the cakes available via text so I could purchase over the phone. Of course I had to get some additional goodies there too. YUM! Everything was SO good!

I've been going here for years and no matter what diet or health kick I'm on, I have never been able to resist the temptation of this magical bakery. These desserts are the solution to all of your problems whatever they may be, plain and simple. The flagship cookie dipped in coffee is a divine spiritual awakening. I am both a cookie fiend and a health nut and I can say without a doubt that these are the most satisfying cookies around.

Very cute bake shop with a great selection of mini cupcakes and regular cupcakes, including vegan flavors. Love that they offer day old cupcakes for half off!! Tried the vegan chocolate cupcake which was delicious! Can't wait to try other flavors. They also have a rewards program. The girls at the counter are very friendly. Highly recommended if you're looking for some dessert or a clean, modern food hall to check out.

Tried 5 different items, most were great. The one that needed the most work: a savory breakfast tart on puff pastry made with cream cheese, bacon, cheese and an egg. Great idea but puff pastry needed to be baked longer, the toppings were yummy. A blueberry scone was sweet, full of berries and tender. Definitely would buy again, the chocolate chip cookie with toffee a 5 star! We found the peanut butter cookie and brown butter cookies too sweet and undercooked. Staff was friendly and attentive.
