Brought my civic here after going through hell with the dealership and these guys fixed it no problem. Very knowledgeable, honest, and helpful guys. I found my go to shop. Car troubles are stressful enough so it’s a relief finding a new shop and they are actually honest and want to help instead of just profit off of you. Will most definitely be here in the future with any car troubles I encounter!

Andre (owner), son, and crew are amazing! This shop is helpful, flexible and reasonable. Going above and beyond to accommodate a specific issue without up charging the way other shops do. They have a text back system that they monitor to keep you up to date with what's going on. Customer service is a step above the rest!

I initially followed my mechanic here from another shop but he left the area during COVID. My experience has been mixed but generally positive. They replaced the rear brakes on my 235K Honda CR-V no problem, and even fixed a dent in my plastic bumper free of charge. Then my heater core let go fluid all over the passenger side carpet . They replaced the heater, but didn't clear the clogged drainage pipe on the AC, so it was still spitting droplets of water all over the wet carpet. These guys are incredible! I have an older Toyota Van that is very difficult to find parts for, not only were they able to find parts but they also used a great deal of ingenuity to fix things that they could not find the replacement parts for. Best of all they came in under their original quote. They will keep you informed the whole time. These are guys you can trust with your vehicle and your wallet. If your having car problems I highly recommend bringing your car here! What great service! I took my car there as the engine temperature occasionally goes up and down a bit. They were able to diagnose it quickly and make honest recommendations about repairing it immediately or the ability to continue driving it. They even waived the diagnostic fee I had agreed to. 5 stars!

My Honda CV-R engine was making rattling noises on a cold start and on turns while going downhill.
Franz charged me a diagnosis fee of $120 for the 1 hour of labor to find that my engine oil was low. They recommended an oil change for $80.
I mentioned that I was new to the area and was looking for a trustworthy mechanic to take care of all 3 of my cars and refer my friends to. I asked to waive the diagnostic fee and just pay $80 this time. Honestly, $80 seems expensive for an oil change, but I figured this was enough for a dip stick check and their time in making sure my car trouble was not

These guys are the best. They completed a motor swap for my 1999 Isuzu and did an amazing job. Very flexible, diligent and communicative. Had the guys do a tune-up on my Mazda and a couple other small things. Price was fair and the work was excellent! Small communication error between me and the staff, brought my car back in, and they said it should have been included in the estimate and didn't charge me further. Really happy I gave them a chance to fix it, now my car runs better than it has in years!

I recently took my Nissan XTerra to Japanese Auto Plus to diagnose a drivetrain issue (shuddering from the rear at stops, and vibration at high speed). Andre and the team really went above and beyond to service my vehicle in a cost effective manner. Rather than simply swap out the entire rear-end, or even independent rear axle assemblies as the Nissan dealership wanted to do, they were able to address the worn axle seal and bearings themselves (despite having to deal with some rusted parts), resulting in a much more reasonable repair bill.

Recently, We took my S/O daily - 2011 Honda Accord to have a wheel bearing replaced. They indeed found that it was the wheel bearing and did a complementary check over the vehicle. The vehicle over all was in great operating condition with the exception of the power steering which was showing symptoms of a failing pump and line. Franz and Andre advised me of their findings - and were honest enough to indicate that it's still not in a state of concern and so they simply topped off the PS fluid and said to monitor it. They notated it in our file so that way when it does come in for more service

Unfortunately, I'm downgrading my review because of the A/C repair that was performed at Japanese Auto Plus came up short. I left it at 3 stars because I'm still satisfied with the oil change.
I had the A/C serviced at the end of November. About a week after the repair, the air still had a nice chill to it. As temperatures dropped in San Diego, the A/C was unnecessary for the next couple of months. I didn't use the air until about early February and to my surprise, I noticed the air began blowing warm air. The longer the A/C was operating, the warmer the air it was blowing.

I first came to Japanese Auto Plus in 2019 after my '07 Xterra had to be towed from the side of the 15. I planned to go to a AAA shop, but my tow truck driver recommended these guys and I thought I'd give them a try. Best mechanic I've ever worked with- these guys are honest, fair, and work incredibly hard to get your car working right for a reasonable price.

I did a ton of research on auto shops before choosing a place to fix my leaking head gasket on a Subaru WRX. It seemed like Japanese Auto Plus has experience with subaru's and have done them before. They also gave me a competitive bid for the work. They appeared to have great reviews on yelp so I gave them a shot. I wish I never came here and just took the time to fix it myself. This shop has caused me so much stress and inconvenience that I have to leave it 1 star. I hate to do it for ANY business but I give what is deserved.

I just got my Mazda 3 serviced; changed oil/filter, timing cover gasket set, oil separator, crankshaft seal, engine mounts, serpentine belt; All in just 1 day! I even had a rear breaks issue and they fixed it for me without the need to buy new parts and without additional charges. I also have 1 year warranty on the repairs done.
