Peter Genovese the famed food reviewer lists Town Hall Deli and The Millburn Deli as having the best Sloppy Joe’s in NJ year after year. Those are great spots with some superb sandwiches. However Avenue Deli is the best kept secret & known to the true foodies as the home of the best Sloppy Joe sandwiches on the planet. We love this place that’s been around for generations.

Best deli in the area, period. The sandwiches are awesome; the roast beef is cooked in-house & gorgeous; the hot dishes are comforting & delicious. Even their simple chicken (served over rice) is cooked in a broth that is sooo good. And the staff is always friendly and helpful. They even remember how I take my sandwich! Beats every chain deli, hands down.
