Not a great place to live the employees are rude who apply rules to specific people and not others. Loud neighbors are expected to be confronted by the person with the problem not by management. Which could potentially put the person with the problem in a potentially dangerous situation. Their apartments are grossly over priced, I paid $795 for a two bedroom and when I left they listed it at $1,200-$1,800 a month.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!
In a nutshell came into the apartment it was dirty. Had flea issues took 2 months to fix. Horrible communication. Read if you want to know more.
The first day i moved in i sent them an email because the shower head was spraying on the ceiling, the water barely drained out of the tub and the hot water lasted less than 15 minutes.
There were someone else's dirty dishes in the dishwasher as well as the dishwasher being filthy when I arrived, the closet door in the kitchen was also dirty and rusty. When I told the office about someone else's dishes in the dishwasher she laughed

Upon move-in there was issues. The apartment was outdated and maintenance was a joke. The office called to discuss any negative comment I had on my move in checklist.
Fast foreword to actually living there. My stay lasted less than 4 months at Briarwood. Upon move in, huge spider and ant infestation in my apartment. My children would wake up an obscene amount of spider and insect bites. I spoke with the office several times and their response was the same everytime but nothing was solved. My children had to miss school/ day care because they were in such bad shape.

Initially I enjoyed living at Briarwood. I would not recommend!!!! If you get on the wrong side of Kayla, apt mgr, you will be miserable. I complained several times about the laundry room being nasty. For 2 weeks water sat in the washer and staff was too busy...on there phones! My neighbor complained about 4 people staying in a 1 bedroom and she did absolutely nothing! I complained about the girl above me and was told there was not a noise ordinance. Although she had the police at my door 4 times in one week. The police told me to talk to the office and Kayla said she didn't get involved with tenant

I've lived here for almost a year. It's a very quiet and clean apartment place. If theres ever an issue with something it always gets handled that day! By far the best place I've lived in. Right in the middle of portage is a plus and my son absolutely loves his new home. There plenty of room and areas to take walks in after dinner and my son of course loves the pool time as well. Everyone is friendly and it's just all around an amazing community to live in. -Ashley Strong

I have been living at Briarwood for nearly 2 years, and I like it very much. Management is friendly and helpful, and it is a lovely site for an apartment complex—lots of tall evergreen trees. There is also a nursery just to the east, and I love looking down on all the activity when plants and flowers are in season. I especially like the fact that the residents are a nice mixture of younger and older. Briarwood is in a quiet area but is still close to Westnedge, just a few blocks to the west. A great place to rent an apartment!

We love Briarwood! It’s clean, quiet, safe, and the staff are incredible. We have lived here almost a year and have had absolutely no issues with the managers. They are so sweet and quick to respond. Maintenance has been great every time as well. They are quick and do a great job! We also love the pool in the summer. I couldn’t recommend this place more 😊

Briarwood Apartments exemplify the high standard of living Portage Michigan has to offer. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Maintenance, rent pay, lease information, and other useful features are easily accessible via the clean and organized website. Any requests I have submitted were quickly addressed. The area is reasonably quiet and neighbors are nice. With cozy, well-maintained apartments, a pool, and easy access to many stores, restaurants, and trails nearby there is a lot to love.

Moved to Briarwood after living at Western for the last few years. By comparison it is so much quieter. Our cat absolutely live sunbathing in the window and watching the dogs and other little critters scurry by. Would recommend this complex to anybody in any type of living situation for it’s price and neighborhood.

Lived there for 5 years on the 3rd floor, roof leaked for 5 years even after it was "replaced." The walls and ceiling were filled with mold, this is literally the first time in 5 years (we moved out 5 months ago) that My kids and I have gone more than a month without being sick because of the mold. Their "solution" to the mold was to paint over it. Also, the furnace closets are all pretty much connected and go to the attic, so if anyone is smoking weed it filters into the top floor apartment.
