Cross Schools has been named the recipient of a 2017 Shade Structure Program Grant by the American Academy of Dermatology. The grant will provide $8,000 for the purchase and installation of a permanent shade structure. Cross Schools is one of several organizations this year to receive a grant from the AAD's Shade Structure Program.

Dr. Carmen Traywick returned to her home state of South Carolina in 2009 to open May River Dermatology, LLC. Her mission was to become the premier provider of dermatologic services in the southeast. She clearly understood and valued the importance of providing patients with personal, timely, and professional care.
Paola Bonaccorsi, MD, PhD joined May River Dermatology in our new location in Johns Creek, Georgia. Paola Bonaccorsi is a native Italian and went to medical school at the University of Rome in Italy where she also completed a first dermatology residency. She came to Emory in 1996 to do research on melanoma immunotherapy and ultimately completed her PhD in Tumor Immunology at the University of Rome.
Compared to other options, Mohs surgery consistently offers an exceptional cure rate for the most common (basal and squamous cell carcinoma), as well as rarer skin cancers. The purpose of Mohs surgery is to completely remove all cancerous tissue while preserving as much healthy skin as possible. The cancer is removed one layer at a time while examining each layer under the microscope.

This was my first time ever seeing a dermatologist. The scheduling is easy. They do take new patients, but it may be several months before you get the appointment. But it will be worth it. I saw a PA, Heather Casalicchio. She was very professional and explained everything clearly. The entire staff is extremely helpful and professional. I had a growth removed right at my first visit. She made sure I was good to go through the entire process. It was quick and painless for me.

The office was really nice and the staff was amazingly professional and nice. All interactions from start to finish exceeded my expectations. I would strongly recommend this office to anyone. This was one of the best doctors visits I’ve ever had. They even took me in 18 minutes early. They’re awesome!!

Once again i had my yearly body check with Dr Traywick. I play golf six days a week so am always anxious that my sunscreen etc is giving me enough coverage to prevent skin cancers. Every inch of my body was checked using special equipment for detection. My skin concerns were explained and advice about more protection proffered. I left feeling comfortable and well carved for! Would heartily recommend this practice.

I've been going to May River for over 3 years. I never have to wait to be seen at the appointment. Skin cancer is prevalent in my family and I feel confident with my PA, Caitlin, that she'll keep me in good check. She's very professional, skilled and friendly. Each time I go for my 6 month checkups she finds a precancerous lesion that needs to be eradicated by cryotherapy or a biopsy is taken with follow up surgery i know this sounds horrible, but these things are better found early. She's really great!
