Chalmers Jewelers is a full-service, independently owned jewelry superstore located at 6202 University Avenue in Middleton. Chalmers Jewelers employs approximately 20 professionals including GIA graduate gemologists and four full-time custom goldsmiths. Scott Chalmers has been in the jewelry business since 1979 and in that time he has continued to give his customers the ultimate jewelry experience.
The entire custom design process at Chalmers takes less than 3 weeks from start to finish. The purpose of a jewelry appraisal is to put a dollar value on the jewelry being appraised, often for insurance purposes. Whether you just inherited a family heirloom or are changing insurance providers, it's a smart idea to have a real replacement value on your jewelry.
Many people come to us curious about the custom design process, but some are intimidated by it. We get that. Unless you have experience with jewelry making yourself, it's hard to wrap your mind around a process that feels very abstract and it's another big leap to actually picture yourself in that process.
We travel to Bangkok, Thailand to find natural gemstones for our in-house custom work to ensure your jewelry has the highest quality stones possible. We bring back hundreds of carats of natural and ethically sourced stones in all sizes and qualities to have the largest selection of loose stones in the state of Wisconsin.
We have the equipment required to perform gemological testing and appraisals set forth by the American Gem Society. We only purchase diamonds through the most respected suppliers who, like us, proudly adhere to and enforce the standards established by the Kimberley Process. Our fine gold and silver has been certified as being from 100% recycled sources by SCS Global - a third-party certification, verification and validation service.

They are great to work with! They aren't typical salespeople. They made me feel really comfortable in a situation where I normally do not because they don't act like making a sale is all-important to them. They educated me about gemstones and are going to design a custom ring for a very reasonable price. They could use more organization.

No returns on non-custom made jewelry that was never worn is pretty low. Hasn't been 30 days and now I'm stuck trying to peddle this thing that they had just sitting on a shelf. Honestly very disappointing and felt like a kick in the face while I was already down.
Honestly would have been happy with 80% back. I went there because my family has a long tradition of getting our rings there. That tradition is over.
Also, dishonest. Store manager lied to me about exchange policy. He claimed I could exchange for full value, only to change his story later over the phone said only half value. These guys

Growing up around the Madison area, we have all heard the ad "Chalmers Jewelers....in Middleton" My recent experience was with the Madison East location but the employee that did amazing was from the Middleton location for the day. I guess lucky me as he was extremely helpful, polite and outgoing. I needed a watch band resized that wasn't… purchased there and is a high end watch. My now fiancé and I live out of town but he chose to work with Chalmers because it’s located in my hometown. After 33 years of marriage and a lost center diamond from my wife's ring, we went into Chalmers to create new custom rings.
Right away Jeff S. made us feel at home and explained the custom ring processes, differences between mined and created diamonds, and helped us build beautiful rings that met our budget.

Love this place! I’ve never made a large purchase but they still treat you like you are their Number 1 customer ❤️ I’ve had watch batteries , watches repaired, rings re-sized. Just had my engagement ring… re-sized and when I picked it up they had not only cleaned the diamond, they completely buffed and polished the gold and it was so shiny it did not even look like my ring! I put it on and it was so spectacular it made my wedding band look like a piece of dirt metal so I left it to be polished too! Thanks Chalmers ❤️

I had the most amazing experience at Chalmers Jewelers and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. I had a more conservative budget and they were extremely accommodating, friendly, and kind despite that.
