Our nation has been plagued by racism for centuries, and the events of the last few months have only highlighted the oppression and injustices that have been imposed on the Black community. When it comes to mental health, our healthcare system has perpetuated disparities in providing culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health care in racial and ethnic minorities.
For instance, data show that African Americans often receive poorer quality of care and lack access to culturally competent care. The U.S. mental healthcare system is also less likely to provide guideline-consistent care to African Americans and less likely to include them in research.*

Services
The Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health Center provides psychotherapy, psychological assessment, school observation, and parent coaching services to families with children, teens, and young adults aged 0-26. We don't do a lot of individual therapy with children, especially younger children. We work with families, because we know your children need you more than they will ever need us.
Confirm with your insurance that your plan covers teletherapy. You can do so by calling the number in the back of your insurance card and speak with a representative to confirm that your plan covers teletherapy. Request a reference number and store it for your records. Schedule an appointment with your therapist and confirm that it will be a teletherapy appointment.
