Bo, po, mo, and fo are the Chinese "ABCs, " a nostalgic and basic foundation for us Asian-Americans. As a cafe, BOPOMOFO seeks to represent this nostalgia and foundation with high-quality ingredients, homemade items, and an influence from both our cultural backgrounds. Through elevated food, beverage, service, and design we seek to inspire and uplift the local community.
We hope you enjoy our cafe! Our co-founder, Philip Wang immediately felt that boba shops were a unique part of Asian American culture which lead him to work at a cafe through college. Meanwhile Eric Wang, our other co-founder, was developing his love for cooking at a young age, but had to give it up when his parents pushed him for a more secure career.

Relationships come and go but boba tea love last forever. It's time to start this new bubble tea café review.
Bopomofo Cafe is a corner bubble tea café in SGV. They're located in a midsize plaza by Las Tunas and Bridge street. Since their establishment a little over five years ago they continued to provide a unique and high quality food and beverage menu, while also pushing creativity within their cafe and beyond. Indoor and outdoor dining area are spacious and has a relaxing vibe.

The drinks and food here are so unique! The drinks were all really good-- the sweet corn drink was especially interesting and was a combo that you'd never think would work but actually tasted so good. It kind of reminds me of sweet corn soup or also cereal milk! The chicken was pretty average popcorn chicken. The mapo tots were delicious and very unique, as it was a combination of mapo tofu and tater tots. Just be prepared to spend a good amount here because the price point is higher! Each drink was around $6 without toppings and the chicken was $8.5 and mapo tots was $11.

This place is so amazing that I wish I had discovered it sooner. The dishes are absolutely innovative and you really can’t find mapo tofu tots anywhere else. And the walnut shrimp burger really teasted like walnut shrimp!! Everything tasted absolutely delicious, which explains the long wait. Milk teas had a strong tea flavor, too. Overall, this is an amazing restaurant, just make sure you order ahead of time.

The strawberry corn drink was so unique and delicious. Got it with 75% sweetness and it was perfect. The popcorn chicken was so juicy and the green dip was so good. For$8, it was such a huge portion!

The cafe is located in a plaza with a parking lot. Parking actually wasn't bad.
Their online ordering system was pretty easy to use. The wait can be pretty long so I do suggest ordering ahead of time. Even with the estimated pickup time I still waited a little bit.
I tried the hot taro milk, iced hey sesame milk and the honey walnut shrimp burger. Everything tasted good. The honey walnut shrimp burger did not taste like honey walnut shrimp you get at restaurants to eat with your rice but it had a unique flavor. I liked it. To top it off, normally fried foods ordered for takeout can get soggy

Shrimp walnut sandwich-if you enjoy eating shrimp walnut at your local Chinese restaurants then this sandwich will blow you away. So good.
You can taste shrimp in the patty and the toppings and softness of the buns just compliments the whole sandwich.
Taiwanese chicken sandwich juicy chicken and perfect flavoring on the outside of the chicken.
Mapo tofu tots, I asked for the sauce on the side so it wouldnt make the tots all soggy and its the best thing to do. Authentic mapo tofu. super yummy and clever idea

But that doesn't stop me and a bajillion other people from ordering ahead and waiting an HOUR to get some boba and snacks (you can and should order ahead).
Y'all know me and you know I gotta try all the seasonal items, so that's all I've tried in my visits because they just have *that* many seasonal items.
Everything I've tried here has been delicious and has looked lovely. The quality of the snacks and drinks are above your average boba shop, but I wouldn't go as far as to say you should come here over

Chinese American fusion done right! I loved the menu's creativity and unique fusion concepts. We ordered online for pickup as soon as possible (30 minutes), and the timing was pretty accurate. There's no indoor seating, only outdoor picnic tables which were too wet from the rain to sit on at the time.
The spicy and regular fried chicken sandwiches, which used juicy breast fillets, were tasty! I personally prefer the spicy version (a solid mild) for more flavor. The Taiwanese style pineapple buns added a hint of sweetness and held the sandwich's structure surprisingly well. The

If you are ever in San Gabriel and want to check out a hip spot that sells creative drinks and tasty snacks this is the place to go!
The name Bopomofo is unique in its menu items! It's almost like quick fusion food to order. The line was long but it is worth the wait.
The tables and chairs were packed with people and friends so when we got our order we ate it in the parking lot on top of our friend's car's trunk.
Overall that was my first time doing this and my first time coming here but the experience itself was nice and pretty fun!

Bopomofo Cafe was on my list of places to visit when I made my Cali trip! Was it so good that I went twice? Yes yes it was.
The drinks are absolutely phenomenal and I now have a new goal to try all of the drinks off the menu. The HEY Sesame Milk is hands down my favorite drink and I still crave it to this day. The food is incredible and I loved trying all of the foods. Having things like Mapotofu Tots was something I didn't know I was missing in my life!

BOPOMOFO!!! Finally checked out this boba shop in San Gabriel CA. Very nice outdoor patio and cozy interior decor. Friendly staffs, welcoming and patiently answered my questions.
The drink has blown me away. I've never thought these two components would blend so well. What a surprise!!! Taste very refreshing, healthy and of course YUMMY. Will come back to try their snack food too :)
I ordered the Carrot Matcha Latte with 25% sweetness level, light iced and light boba. After a long day, this drink definitely ended my day well.

Saw a couple photos from nearby Yelp check-ins and felt like I had to have it, especially the honey walnut shrimp burger.
Honey walnut shrimp is always that guilty pleasure dish at Chinese banquets. On some level, you feel like you're not supposed to like it cause "it's Americanized" but let's be honest, it's pretty dang good.
On first bite, I mainly targeted the shrimp patty and this was EXCELLENT. The crust on the patty wasn't too thick and the shrimp flavor was unmistakable. However, when put with all it's garnishes namely shredded lettuce, raw red onions

The food is for takeout and I couldn't eat there because it was slightly crowded outside so it's not really the place to plan to dine with friends or solo. I am not very familiar with the fusion of the food but it was pretty good, I enjoyed their drinks, it definitely had a good mix of the milk teas. The customer service is very good and they are good on getting their orders on the time frame they give you. I really enjoyed the shrimp burger, and also their spicy chicken sandwich. I think it's a good spot to try. Also their hand sanitizer smells amazing.

Ok the food did not disappoint. The names and combinations of the ingredients will make you scratch your head at first but it works. My favorite was the Mapo Tots. The drinks are a bit more on the sweeter side, but it was our first time so we didn’t do any adjustments.
When we went the kitchen closed at 2PM and we had just gotten there right at 2. Our waiter was so nice enough to let us order still.

Ordered online ahead of time before they opened and my drink was ready approximately 5min after they opened. They have an area for you to pick up online orders and they are very quick and attentive to this line. Drinks came with paper straws that are the most durable paper straws I've ever had (still firm and no paper taste after 2 hours).

Frankie's Matcha - large with less ice + boba; the blueberry (texture is fresh) and matcha layers work very well together. Haven't had a drink like this before. Really liked it! I usually get drinks at 50%-75% sweetness

Visiting from NYC, I was so happy to finally tried BoPoMoFo since I have been a long time fan of WF.
Crimson Smash “Homemade blood orange syrup, guava nectar, and muddle mint, shaken with house limeade for a bold and refreshing cocktail.” This drink was pretty to look at and it was delicious. I had it with 50% sweetness and it was enough for me. I added boba, which was cooked perfectly. I love the sweet, mint, and citrus combo, a great drink for the summer. It was definitely refreshing.

Our 1st time here. Menu is super unique. Everything we ordered was good. What I have to say is the customer service here is amazing. As I sit here in what feels like 100 degree heat I see the owner running around serving everyone. Even though it’s hot he’s still so nice and very accommodating. Small business has been extremely affected here in California due to the pandemic and it seems like everyone is so short staffed. Remember when ordering to be patient and understanding during this time. Everyone is trying their best. Be kind always <3

Finally got to come!!! Expect to pay the quality of the food and drinks. I know some people said they had to wait...but I went on a weekday and ordered ahead. They served it around the time they said they would. Came up from NorCal, didn't get to see Phil this time but I guess I'll have to go back.
