Hillside Village Apartments

Don’t have hot water to shower for three weeks straight. Great. Packages are lost all the time. Homeless people sneak in to steal packages and use our laundry machine. the lease office don’t care about residents at all

I like the location of the apartments, however, the management is HORRIBLE and IRRESPONSIBLE. Like other reviews have said, packages are stolen all the time, even when you sign up for one of the lockers, a number of packages will still be placed outside next to the mail boxes.
The management is SLOW in resolving the residents' issues. If your apartment is missing anything such as blinds or lights, be prepared to live without them during your time there.

As a previous reviewer notes, the property has recently undergone a change in management so negative reviews prior to October 2018 should, indeed, be ignored but the more recent negative reviews are fully applicable. The management is currently in violation of Berkeley Municipal Code Section 19.50.040 and has ignored my repeated attempts to alert them of the situation. This is not the only issue with the new management and I'm happy to discuss this further, provide proof of my repeated attempts to anyone who is considering living here, and explain exactly how my efforts to reach out to the management

Would absolutely not recommend living here, especially if you are a student renter. I lived here for two years and never felt like I was treated with respect as a tenant. The management was constantly changing staff and from my experience, was not equipped or properly trained to work with the volume of people living in the complex or the problems within the building. At one point we had a person living across from us who would scream as if someone were murdering them at random hours in the night (this would happen at least once a week) and the leasing office did nothing about it. I had such a great experience at the Hillside Village Apartments. I felt right at home when visiting the leasing office. The Business Manager Mrs. Tekie was wonderful enough to give me a tour and answered all of my questions about the neighborhood.
She gave me a tour of the apartment and I absolutely fell in love with the space it looked very presentable and clean. Mrs. Tekie was very responsive throughout the whole process and provided me with great customer service.

Very Very Bad Management!! lost package very often and the manager doesn't care at all!! and apartment very noisy!! Although it looks nice when I first come, but actually very noisy all day and night and have lots of problem!! Carefully think if you want to take the risk to live at here!!

I've lived here since I retired in the middle of June 2014, and in the past I had plenty of complaints about the poor response from the previous management, including problems about the building's physical condition. Since the new management group, Alliance, has taken over in the last few months, I'm now 100 percent satisfied with the way things are done. So any complaints in reviews about the management and the physical condition of the building that were written before Alliance came onboard can be ignored.
The new management is extremely helpful, and communicates any issues clearly and regularly
