Our assistance continues through your vacation. Clients receive our helpful Travel Information pamphlet along with all other travel documents prior to departure. We've created this material to help ease your transition at the rental and in the country. It offers tips on renting in France and Italy including such subjects as what house supplies to buy, use of the telephone, obtaining local currency, protection against theft, and more.
Carolyn Grote founded the company in 1992. She lived in Europe as a young single woman and later met her husband there. Carolyn's first trip back with her family was a journey of exploration. She looked for a way to feel "at home" abroad while only staying a short while. Renting was the answer. But in 1990, finding a good, reliable and charming rental accommodation was a challenge.
Renting is the best way to experience French and Italian living. You settle into your farmhouse or mill and adapt the pattern of your daily life to the pace of the countryside. Trips to the local markets are often the highlight of the day. By going to the same boulangerie (bakery) everyday you meet and make friends with local people.
Most city rentals do have telephones. Often these are good for local/incoming calls only. For long distance calls be prepared to use your US telephone credit card or buy a local prepaid card. In the countryside, many homes do provide telephones. Always check the property description "Features & Amenities" to be sure.
Each region we've selected has its own unique and exciting character. Houses are located to be central for touring while also being away from hectic or trafficked areas. Each home offers beautiful landscapes, a terrific selection of villages and restaurants within easy reach, and seasonal local festivals to enjoy.

In the spring of 2009 we rented an apartment in Paris from Ville Et Village, had a wonderful time with no problems. So when it came time to find a rental for Rome in May 2016, we again turned to them. The apartment was clean enough, had a great location, was almost true to the description (washer does not mean washer and dryer!) but the bed was lumpy and I found Ville Et Village before the trip very difficult to work with. I needed the physical address of the apartment in order to give to a private tour guide, and also wanted the details of who and where we were to meet someone upon our arrival
