Cooperative preschools are special because they allow parents to be actively involved in their child's first school experience. Parents are able to participate in their child's classroom monthly, become friends with the other parents who are interacting with their children, know exactly what their child is learning in the classroom, and have a say in everything that happens in the classroom and school.

What makes our co-op unique is we have been teaching children through play for over 70 years. Which means we have generations of families returning to the Catonsville Cooperative Preschool to ensure that their children are able to have the same fantastic childhood Co-op experience. Throughout the year, classes attend field trips to the zoo, farm, Maryland Science Center, and more!
Services
The Catonsville Cooperative Preschool offers programs for children who are two, three, and four years old at the start of the school year. Our Two's Program is a parent participation class. A teacher leads the class and the parent or caregiver attends with the child. Both our Preschool and Prekindergarten Programs are cooperative classrooms.
Our curriculum is a play-based program that follows the educational standards outlined in the Maryland Early Learning Standards. Children learn and practice reading, writing, and math skills and explore social studies and science topics through games, music, art, fine motor activities, and play. Children are encouraged to engage in creative play.
Because our parents work in the classroom, our tuition is very affordable when compared to traditional preschools. Our adult child ratio is 1:4. Our 3-year old and prekindergarten programs are limited to 18 students per class and our 2-year old program is limited to 10 students per class.

If you are interested in one of the programs, please contact the membership coordinators at membership@catonsvillecoop.org to answer any questions you may have and/or to schedule a visit to the school.Upon receipt of the applicatiion, registration fee and September's tuition, we will confirm your spot in the class and send you a Welcome Packet.
Karen Stysley is the Director as well as the teacher for the preschool and prekindergarten programs at the Catonsville Cooperative Preschool. She is a huge fan of the co-op method and can personally attest to how enriching it can be for kids and for their parents too. All three of Karen's daughters graduated from the co-op and loved their time there!
One housekeeping of the school during the year (one Saturday morning during the school year). Prekindergarten - Preparing the classroom the Saturday morning the weekend before school opens (Opening the Closet). Preschool 3's - Packing up the classroom the Saturday morning the weekend after school closes (Closing the Closet).
