When kids engage in meaningful outdoor experiences, they're better able to reconnect with themselves, others, and the world around them in a special way. Society today is fueled by pressure, which triggers an "alert" state: fight, flight, or freeze. This stimulates a stress response, essentially shutting off the part of the brain that allows kids to regulate emotions, solve problems, make good choices, & learn how to connect with each other.
In nature, kids feel safe enough to shut down this "alert" state, opening them up to new experiences, challenges, relationships, and learning opportunities. They learn to trust themselves and their ability to make choices for themselves, deciding together where to go and what to do at the start of each session.

Services
Please practice social distancing during pick-up and drop-off. Look for our van away from park-goers & use our guidance to follow the flow of foot traffic! Designed to inspire authentic outdoor experiences with "the neighborhood tribe" while kids learn valuable mindfulness tools. Families in each pod determine the details of their pod safety guidelines together (with guidance and support from P&P staff).
Our nature van is part of the fun: allowing us to develop a close bond while we travel to beautiful places in the mountains, forests, canyons, beaches and beyond! Giving kids a role in the decision-making process develops their important sense of autonomy, encourages them to embrace challenges, and highlights the value of connection.
Please put it on before you get to the park & pack your own. We will remind you to re-apply in the afternoon, but please also have it on when you show up. Please no cell phones/iPods/iPads/tablets/e-readers or anything in the "screen" categories. This includes mp3 players, headphones, air pods & portable speakers.

Ashley is amazing and does such a great job of connecting with kids. Her staff are also wonderful. My son loved every moment of this camp and the new adventure every day. She takes kids out of their comfort zone in a fun way that ensures growth. She does it in a safe way and is extremely communicative as well. We are huge fans and can't wait to be back. I wish I had a camp like this when I was younger!

ABSOLUTE BEST CAMP EVER!! My daughter has literally tried camps all over the city, and since a year ago when we began Paths and Pages she doesn't want to go anywhere else. Adventures to different places in nature with a fantastic team of fun, spirited, mindful counselors getting dirty and having fun- that's how summer should be. Ashley, the owner, is force of nature- fun loving, empowering, professional- she is a SUPERSTAR, and I am so grateful for for her and this camp!

Paths and Pages is a wonderful camp! My son really enjoys the adventure and freedom it offers him in nature. I really appreciate the compassionate and supportive energy of the caregivers and the element of ritual Incorporated into the structure. Our only complaint is that there aren't many available spots due to the popularity, so you have to plan ahead to book a spot.
I was also really excited about the Pages (writing) portion of camp and hoping my son was going to use his journal during camp. He hasn't yet, but I imagine he would of he participate in more days.

You won't find anything quite like this in Los Angeles. Ashley the owner dedicates her life to this camp and it is apparent in how she builds relationships with each young person while tailoring each experience to the groups needs. Your child is in good hands with her and her team. I have seen first hand the amazing adventures she takes the kids on in the Paths and Pages van, and I have seen the look of joy (and often exhaustion) on the kids faces after a full day of discovery. Highly recommend for an enriching, heart opening experience for any young person
