Manual therapy is a hands-on treatment by clinicians to treat muscle aches, joint pain, and limited range of motion. It encompasses a variety of techniques including soft tissue mobilization of muscles, specific joint mobilization, and joint manipulation. Mobilization is a slower, more controlled process of articular and soft-tissue stretching intended to improve joint mobility.
Surgeons routinely refer post-surgical patients to our physical therapists to help them recover strength, function and mobility. Our therapists provide one-on-one, evidence-based physical therapy treatment sessions to help facilitate your recovery and return to activities of daily living (ADLs), work, recreational activities and even competitive sports.
If you are a youth, collegiate, elite, or professional athlete, when you are injured, you need a physical therapist with experience rehabilitating sports-related injuries. Athletes place higher demands on the muscles and joints and also require sport-specific training to recover speed, power, and agility.
Patients that suffer from work-related injuries may meet the treatment goals of physical therapy but cannot return to work due to deconditioning (being out of shape). Personalized interventions are also provided to decrease the odds of re-injury upon return work.
Typically, these programs consist of personalized, full-body, intensive training with a focus on the activities that are similar to the physical demands required by a particular category of employment.

I could hardly walk without a cane due to an injury to my lower back in late September. My daughter told me about Waldwick PT where they provide each patient one-on-one attention, one patient at a time. I was treated by Joe Bumanlag who was very knowledgeable and compassionate toward my pain. He took the time to educate me about the injury and how he was treating it. He routinely put me through a series of manipulations, stretching and weight bearing exercises, that now allow me to walk and enjoy life without pain. I'm back to the gym thanks to Joe. I highly recommend Waldwick Physical Therapy

The best! I love the professional, individualized attention at Waldwick Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation. Paul, the owner, works one on one with you. You’re not in a large facility where the therapists are working with multiple patients at a time. Paul is extremely knowledgeable and continuously alters my program to help me improve strength and mobility. I highly recommend Waldwick Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation.

Paul Artale has created the BEST physical therapy practice in Bergen County! I have gone to chiropractors, neurosurgeons, back specialists, and gaggles of physical therapists. NO ONE HAS SOLVED MY ISSUES, except for Paul Artale.
In addition to his immaculate office, inspirational music (classic rock and alt. 90s, which does fuel me with an extra does of motivation), and photos of his clients' success stories, Paul LISTENS. Remarkably, this is a unique trait in this metro area. Paul devotes his entire focus to your session, and is constantly generating exercises to better meet your rehab needs
