Rochelle Zell Jewish High School creates a culture of academic excellence that inspires and prepares our students to think critically, achieve their full potential, and live Judaism as responsible and involved citizens in the modern world. Integrating the wisdom of our heritage and values with the sciences, humanities, and the arts.
Services
They envisioned a place where students attending day schools could continue their Jewish education during the years that have the greatest impact on their Jewish identity. These leaders foresaw a place where public school students entering high school could deepen their understanding and appreciation of their Jewish heritage.
Rochelle Zell Jewish High School first opened its doors in 2001 as Chicagoland Jewish High School, featuring a pioneer class of 26 students in rented space at Northwest Suburban Jewish Congregation in Morton Grove. Now in our 19th year, we are firmly established in our permanent Deerfield home where 149 students come to us each day from over 19 communities in the Chicago area and beyond.
How would you describe Rochelle Zell Jewish High School (RZJHS)? Rochelle Zell is a vibrant, co-ed college preparatory high school committed to academic excellence in general and Judaic studies. Rochelle Zell opened its doors in 2001 to 26 students. Since then, Rochelle Zell has grown to 149 students from 19 communities throughout and beyond the Chicagoland area.
It is my great honor to take over as President of the Board of Directors of Rochelle Zell Jewish High School this year. I have learned much from my predecessors, especially Alan Frankel and Lynn Schrayer, our two immediate past presidents and I am excited to have this opportunity to work even more closely with our faculty, staff, parents and the great RZJHS community.
Tony Frank, Head of School, brings a strong background in Jewish education and administration to Rochelle Zell Jewish High School. Originally from the Chicago area, Mr. Frank made aliyah with his family when he was 14 years old. After serving in the Israeli army and earning a Bachelors degree from Hebrew University, Mr. Frank returned to the States to begin his career as an educator.
