The mission of Hillview Mental Health Center is to provide comprehensive, compassionate and culturally sensitive mental health services to adults and youths in the East San Fernando Valley. Along with challenges of mental illness and substance abuse disorders, our clients suffer the burdens of poverty.
Hillview's approach addresses all of these concerns: We offer a full range of outpatient behavioral health and substance use disorder services while working with government and community agencies to meet practical needs such as housing, employment and transportation. We help our clients assess their needs, goals and strengths to empower them to live as independently as possible as participating members of the community.

Services
Serving more than 2,000 clients, Hillview Mental Health Center empowers individuals affected by mental illness to flourish and live productive, fulfilling lives. Our staff of psychiatrists, nurses, clinicians, recreational therapists and case managers work collaboratively to provide individually tailored services for our clients.
For more than 50 years, Hillview Mental Health Center has provided comprehensive mental health services to individuals most in need. At the heart of Hillview's founding was Carl McCraven, who came to Los Angeles in 1955 as one of the first African American engineers to work on the early space program.
Art plays a major role at Hillview. We recognize the therapeutic powers of art and encourage our clients to express themselves creatively. We offer a variety of classes to help clients find their artistic voice, including arts and crafts, music and poetry. Each year we present an art show featuring the works of our clients and staff.
