I most definitely give the Orchard Lake campground a five star. I've been there once with a friend of mine that has a camper, but I have also been out there several times fishing by myself. If you just go there to fish it is a $8 fee per day per person which to me that is very reasonable because there are fish to be caught, they are considerably hard to catch but they can and have been caught. Although I practice the catch and release program, I do believe you are allowed to keep the fish that you catch. And they are very healthy and clean fish. But anyways as far as the rest of the campground

Orchard lake offers RV sites and camping sites. There is a small lake for canoeing and swimming. There is another small water area for fishing. My family caught some fish early in the morning yesterday! These sites are very close together, however there is a lot of areas to walk and trees around the whole place. The bathrooms are clean and nearby. They are playgrounds for kids also. It is not far from town if you get in a pinch and need firewood or other items. Orchard lake also has a small convenience store at check-in for items you've forgotten. It is a very nice campground! Saluda is beautiful

We recently stayed in a cabin for a week here. It was our second stay and everything went pretty well until the last day. They locked the game room and laundry facilities bc the “Preppers” had rented the entire camp. We were like “Wait….we are still staying here and we paid to use these facilities too.” It didn’t matter, our money wasn’t as green as theirs. The “Preppers” wanted the room to stage their things. So we were out of
luck. The amenities are only for whoever pays the most apparently. We won’t be back.

Orchard Lake is a nice campground except we noticed there are a lot of full time residents…even our loop seemed to be outnumbered by full time residents. The first loop when you come in is all full timers. It’s a different vibe vs. full time resident and we weren’t a fan of that. My suggestion is keep full timers separate and not mixed in with transients.
The great things are free canoes, life jackets and paddles. They have a game room, zip line and big field for sports. The Wifi signal was good.
The bathrooms are clean but need updating. Also the gravel roads need grading and some of the

We stayed in the top section of the campground where bathrooms were constantly overflowing and a mess but that was near the playground. Many unsupervised children of all ages. Lake was low but kids had a blast swimming in it and sliding down the slide in the center. I love that you don't have to rent a canoe there first come first serve . I would go back and stay in a different part of the park not near the playground.
