Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground

Mama Gertie’s was the first stop on our maiden voyage with the new RV. After checking in Rhonda led us to our campsite in her golf cart and was so helpful. It was the first time we hooked up to electric, water and waste, so Rhonda had some great pointers that saved us time and probably a little embarrassment. The sites were clean and very well kept, with a fire pit and picnic table. The bathrooms/showers were separate, and the nicest at any campsite I have ever been to. What a great find! We stayed for 3 nights in late Nov, 2021 at the back upper section (ours was lot 23). The site was secluded, elevated, and very well maintained with full RV hookup. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the shower facilities were updated and clean. The location is an easy one min off of I-40 and 15 min from downtown Asheville. Will definitely go back next time we're in town!

We stayed at Mama Gertie’s the first week of November, 2021. Beautiful, unique campground. Discounted rate post November 1st. Easy access to the beautiful surrounding area. Great staff. Nice bathrooms/laundry. Minor quibbles - security lights too bright at night, sites a bit narrow. Fall foliage was beautiful.

The most beautiful campsite I have ever been too. Been camping for 25 years. The view from our deck was breathtaking!! All restrooms , laundry rooms very clean . Security made rounds frequently, not sure why , everyone was so polite and nice. The town of Black Mountain was very quaint. Highly recommend a visit. The ride up to sites a little tricky, but we were escorted up to the top.

Beautiful view when you have the premier site but very very expensive. It was $147 a night for full hook up and there is nothing there that they offer. There were 2 bathroom for about 15 sites where we were. The bathrooms had the showers in with the toilets so if you just wanted to use the toilet and someone was using the shower you were out of luck because the bathroom would be occupied for a long time especially if the ladies were drying their hair after the shower. Not a great design. The bathrooms were not the cleanest either. If you do not have an extremely powerful engine in your tow vehicle

Beautiful campground! Sites are tidy, bathrooms were very clean as well as the laundry. Staff was polite and helpful. We stayed on the upper tier and the views were absolutely stunning! We highly recommend Mama Gertie’s!

Unprofessional lady on the balcony where you can't see her from a car there to yell at you to slow down, once you do she then yells at you again for entering to retrieve there customers when there is 0 signage saying you can't enter.

And I mean YELLS at you. If I was going to fast, you can ask me not to politely, if I can't enter somewhere you can tell me that politely. Instead I guess a manager? Decided to yell at me.

What if I was a guest? Would she have acted that way? Who knows.

I was so impressed! It is tucked away on the side of a mountain and quite secluded, which was great for us. I stayed three nights with my dog and we both loved exploring the hiking trails. They had a nice spot for dogs to go to the bathroom, a beautiful common area in the grass with horseshoe game and a fire pit. Most of all, the staff there is tremendous! The gentlemen who escorted me to my RV spot were fantastic and the woman who runs the front office is magnificent at what she does. If you are considering this place, go for it!!

What a great spot! Have stayed in the cabins a couple times and love them. The grounds are super clean, the service is first class, and the setup allows for privacy. Can't say enough good things about this place and the staff that run it. Can't wait until next chance to visit.

It was the most pleasantMama Gerties was one of the most pleasant experiences that I had on our camping trip it was extremely neat and beautiful and well kept everything was just there for us the laundry showers everything it was great I I just hope you have a great summer and that should keep getting a lot of business because you deserve it

This was our second trip with our brand new camper trailer, and we picked Mama Gertie's to celebrate my birthday weekend. What a gem! Nice sites, beautiful mountain views from the top level of sites, clean, and with friendly, courteous, helpful staff! We met other campers, and our dog met other dogs! Great for a relaxing camper experience. We plan to go back around Christmas!

Well, it's a nice RV "resort" and at over $100 a night one would expect amenities that would be comparable to that price range. BUT, when you have to wait in line for a bathroom, a shower and you have that kind of price point, we had to to wait until the next early morning for a shower. We had much better luck with NPS. Pretty sad.

Beautiful RV park, loved it! We will be back. Close to Asheville & hiking. All the sites are good but the premium sites are worth the extra cost.

Though the campsites are close together, the campground deserves 5 stars. Very homey campsites, the view from the top is great and the staff go out of the way to provide for you. Facilities are top notch and they even have a dog park! The time deadline is to show you to your campsite before staff leaves.

My favorite campground ever!! What began as a week long stay, quickly turned into 2 whole months at Mama Gertie's. We left for a month, and now we're back for another month! Not only is this place a beautiful campground with multiple natural streams running throughout, the amenities are kept absolutely spotless. The staff is a whole added bonus, as their kindness and hospitality have quickly made them all feel like family. If you're in the Asheville area and are looking for a place to camp, look no further

This is a wonderful campsite with extremely tight knit spaces. However the spots are very well manicured. The spots up on the mountain top are prime spots and have beautiful views. The are reserved for full hookups. We only needed water and 30 amps so we were given the spots near the country store. Although that didn't seem as nice we actually had a stream running right behind our campsite and the bathrooms were right down the path from us. They have cabins with limited amenities but are also wonderfully placed to enjoy the creek. Most all are under shade except the ones on the mountain top

No water for third day. As we paid 100.00 a day. Not very nice at office. I asked when she stated oh well that's camping

Was looking for the perfect getaway spot and Mama Gerties was definitely the spot! Stayed in the cabin and couldn't be happier with this decision. The set up was mostly private and outside included a fire pit, a grill, electrical connection, a picnic table and a mini creek! The cabin itself was small but perfect for the 4 of us! Inside included a small table with two chairs, a full size bed, a bunk bed, a trash bin, hooks to hang belongings and a ceiling fan. There is no AC but we were fine. The campsite is shaded with all the surrounding tees and once the sun goes down, there is a nice breeze

The bathrooms are clean. The office closes a bit early...6pm. Tried to do laundry, machine was out of detergent, coin machine was not working. And yes, the office was closed.
This ground is for RV's, no place to wash our dishes, and only 6 tent sites.
Last but not least....I ordered 4 bundles of wood they only delivered 2! Good thing we were back to the site at 550pm, we would not have had our two extra bundles

I found a gem! You can beat a a cabin (without plumbing) for $62 per night. Great location near Asheville and hiking opportunities while being able to venture off to the city in less than 20 minutes. Effortless check in process and spotless public restrooms and showers were a highlight for me.

Just spent 3 nights at Mama G's and couldn't be more impressed. Nice site, great proximity to Asheville, but most important a well-run, immaculately clean place. Their staff were all pleasant, helpful and engaged in their jobs. We own a campground and know how difficult it can be to find great staff. It makes a huge difference to the visitor's experience. A round of applause to y'all.

We planned to camp so we could enjoy Asheville, and picked Mama Gertie's Campground for the positive reviews compared to some of the other campgrounds around. We ended up enjoying the campground so much that we cut our Asheville visit short to enjoy Swannanoa and Black Mountain.

Mama Gertie's gets a 5/5 from me. This campground is nestled literally in the mountains. The owners have put work and love into this campground and it shows. There are multiple levels of camping up to the very top with decks overlooking the mountains

This is a very clean well kept campground. Also, they were very nice to allow us a late arrival when our 4 hour commute turned into a 6 hour commute due to hurricane evacuations. We enjoyed our stay!

What an amazing camping trip at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground. It had been 16 years since I'd camped in a tent. Wow, the perfect spot listening to the stream flowing over the rocks. The shaded camp site was just perfect. Very clean, quiet, and relaxing. The staff was very accommodating. Looking so forward to more outdoor adventures.

A stay at Mama Gertie's is a must when visiting Asheville!

For the last 20 months we've been traveling this amazing country of ours and this is one of the best RV campgrounds we've had the pleasure of staying in, hands down.
Starting with the first phone call, Christy and her team treated you like family. Good family ;o). They're professional, warm, and friendly. Unfortunately, customer service seems to be lacking at many campgrounds, not so here. These folks ROCK!
