Rocking H Preschool was started in 1994 by Barbara Harris, a retired kindergarten teacher, who taught for 46 years. Susan Harris, her daughter, has continued the preschool in her honor. Her father, Farmer Vern, gave tractor rides to the Back 40. The children just loved them both. They are missed! Miss Susan has been teaching at Rocking H Preschool since 1997.
Educated in Early Childhood Development, Susan provides the basis of social emotional instruction. She teaches children in a respectful, fun loving way and encourages children to be the best they can be! Services
We are a social - emotional based program. We teach self-empowerment! We focus personal independence, self-reliance, and self-control. Children learn respect, integrity, and empathy. They learn how to cooperate, communicate, and listen. We teach children how to contribute in meaningful ways. Children learn to understand their emotions and how to deal with feelings and the feelings of others.
I hear, and I forget. I see, and I remember. I do, and I understand. As children experience the world around them, they form pictures in their minds of what they see. Because blocks are designed in mathematical units, children learn about size, shape, area, length, etc. as they select, and build. Involves role playing and pretending as children act out roles of family members, community helpers and real or imaginary characters.
Drop-off: No need to get out of your car! Convenient circular driveway allows a teacher to bring the children safely into school. Kindergarten Readiness: In June, parents with children in the Pre-K classes receive individual social/emotional evaluations and detailed testing information to measure kindergarten readiness.
I cannot say enough about the positive and unique learning environment provided to them. What may look like "play" was a creative way the teachers encourage the students to learn. From the Solar system to the human body, I was amazed at all the information bouncing around my children's heads. The farm setting also allows the students a chance to get out of the traditional classroom environment while continuing to learn.

Rocking H set me up for success. I was in “gifted” classes all throughout elementary school and junior high, and this Friday I’m graduating from high school with my AA in business. The foundation I built at Rocking H was instrumental to my success. Rocking H and Miss Susan inspired my love for animals, the outdoors, and community. I’m so lucky to have had the experiences that I did! The pictures and memories will always be incredible reminders of the time I spent working with and learning from an amazing group of people. Highly recommend!

Susan K Harris has stolen our goats from us and gave them away. We may never see them again. We purchased these goats for our farm and were gracious enough to let the preschool use them but she got mad at her brother and got rid of them. She has also explained to my husband and I that she hates kids. Something you can’t do if you’re teaching.

We love Rocking H Preschool and Miss Susan Harris! Our first son just "graduated" and will be heading off to Kindergarten in the fall. As a former Kindergarten teacher I can confidently say he is more than prepared thanks to Miss Susan and her teachings. She is the perfect combination of fun loving, nurturing, & no-nonsense, which was exactly what my shy but curious little guy needed! She loves each student and truly gets to know them as individuals. We can't wait to be back for round 2 in a couple years!

I could not be happier with my choice of preschool and pre-k for my son. The students are in an organized and professional environment that promotes fun and creative learning. Rocking H challenges the children to learn beyond their age range. They also focus on good manners and working well with others. This really helps prepare them for Elementary school. I have been so impressed and recommend Rocking H to anyone looking for a preschool.

A perfect fit for my son. He loved the structured atmosphere of play and work, all combined with a very positive learning environment which Rocking H preschool offers. He also loves his teachers. Miss Susan and Miss Amy give everything they have, unconditionally to all the children within their school. The mixture of academics, play and reality is paramount to children at this age and this school exceeds all the expectations expected. We could not have found a more perfect place for our littlest.

Miss Susan and Miss Amy seriously build a brilliant foundation for their students. My daughter went from being shy and quiet to being obedient, independent and so bubbly! Putting her in Rocking H preschool was literally the best thing I could have done for her early childhood. My daughter Bentlie loves her teachers like family, the way she talks about them on a daily basis is seriously heart warming! I cannot believe everything she has learned at 5 years old, from the projects and crafts she takes home on a daily basis, to all of the educational songs she sings, the planets and her body project

In order for a review to be relevant, it must reference a clear set of expectations. Our expectations of the Rocking H experience were these: 1. A safe, healthy environment. 2. Staff that care for children intrinsically. 3. Playful learning with the continuity of home discipline. 4. Growth focused on a healthy development first.
On these objectives, Ms. Susan and her program exceed all expectations. Five stars aren't enough for the program she leads. Our children will all be Rocking H'ers.
