Montessori Academy's campus is located on 14 beautiful acres with tall trees, a meadow, a salmon-run creek, and a lovely lake that is a bird refuge for ducks and geese. Our nature and environmental studies are conducted in this beautiful environment. Two of our staff members bring their dogs to school.

Montessori Academy doesn't have to scramble, because Mrs. Justus founded the school on principles of caring for ourselves, our school, and our environment. Here are just a few of the ways that our school has been "green" for 60 years. When Mr. and Mrs. Justus bought the property for Montessori Academy at Spring Valley, the term "environmentalist" may not have even been coined.

It took me a long time to write this review because of the negative impact our experience with the school has had on our family. As a parent, if I were researching schools, I would have wanted to know this was going on before I made my decision to spend as much money has they charge.
Our son went to Spring Valley as a toddler to preschool and we eventually decided to withdraw our son after two years. Ms. Holme and Ms. Leah were amazing, caring teachers and honestly the only reasons why we stayed so long. Because we are not parents that give up easily we gave the school multiple chances, gave

Worst school to put your kids to.
Teachers are rude and unprofessional. It seems like most of the teachers don't want to be there but they have to because of the pay check. They don't know how to greet kids let alone parents.
Their Montessori website defines; "The goal is to become happy and useful members of society; to achieve the ability to cope" and to "adapt" well, and to gain competence to function in the real world." Which is not true at all.

Sent our son to the summer program here for pre-school. Prior to enrolling we had to bring him in for an "interview". There were two teachers- the one who conducted the interview and taught my sons class was amazing. He hadn't had a lot of interaction with other kids and we were nervous about his first school experience. She was kind but firm with him and very open with us about how he was doing. We felt really good about the school and the program.
When it was time to enroll for the actual school year the trouble began with

I had really high hopes for this place. We had sent our son to a Montessori preschool and his teachers felt that he would do well at Spring Valley. We love the environment and were excited to have him start Kindergarten this fall.
As summer camp progressed, our son started having potty accidents but only at school. Towards the end of the summer, I had a conference by phone with the head of school. She had no advice to offer, only that they expected children of his age to be completely accident free. She wanted us to take him to the doctor to make sure that there was nothing physically wrong with

My son attended Spring Valley for two years, preschool - pre-primary. The fundamentals they taught and the way they allow children to go at their own pace is remarkable. My son flourished there. He excelled in math (he's always been a number's guy) and was able to excel because they allowed him too. Class sizes are small as well. He learned so much. I wish we didn't move out of the area and could have kept him there.

I am so glad I found this school for my daughter. The teachers and admin staff nurture her independent spirit. The academics are self-paced for the child and my daughter has learned so much without having the feeling of being pushed into anything. The campus is beautiful and students are encouraged to explore and learn about the natural world around them. My daughter is returning for her second year and we couldn't be happier!

We have a very strong - willed child, bright, and adventurous, full of joy and independence. Some of these qualities lead to really negative early learning experiences at other schools. We found the perfect school for our child at Spring Valley Montessori. The curriculum is student driven, so they kept my bright child engaged and challenged. The teachers are so experienced and knew how to work with our kid in a way that didn't break her spirit and allowed her to feel confident and safe in her environment. I had been so stressed out by the experiences at our other preschools; being at Spring Valley

I am in love with this school. Before I enrolled my daughter we toured Geiger, Life Christian, and All Saints. They were all priced around the same but when we met the staff, I fell in love. They're friendly, caring, and they genuinely have an interest in each student. Every day that I pick up my daughter her teacher is always complimenting students on what they did well that day. I think it's important to build children up. Since my daughter has been enrolled, she's just made leaps and bounds. Great school.
