Services
Pelham Animal Clinic is a state-of-the-art small animal hospital that is here for your pet's surgical needs. Prior to surgery, we recommend running bloodwork to determine if your dog or cat has any conditions that cannot be seen by a physical examination. Our compassionate doctor and staff also recommend pain medication to help your pet be as comfortable as possible during and after the surgery.
Our clinic pharmacy includes the latest antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick preventatives and heartworm preventatives available. Dr. Carr attends numerous educational events and conferences each year in order to insure we carry only the best for the life of your pet. We also have a full-line of prescription diets available for your convenience.
Have you ever lost a pet? It is one of the worst feelings that a pet parent may have to endure. Today however, there is a much greater chance of your pet returning home if they are microchipped. Each microchip is about the size of a grain of rice, and they are inserted just under your pet's skin between the shoulder blades.
When an external exam simply does not provide all the answers for your pet, our hospital is equipped with advanced imaging technology to help diagnose their issues. X-Ray imaging allows Dr. Carr to make immediate decisions for the health of your pet. In the majority of cases, our experienced doctor can use the radiograph to determine what may be wrong with your dog or cat.
Pelham Animal Clinic is equipped with a complete pharmacy and can help reduce the pain your pet may be facing. Surgical procedures are painful for people as well as pets. We recommend preventative pain management for all of our surgeries. Also, many pets develop arthritis and other age-related pain and joint issues as they get older.

Dr Carr and his staff neutered my six month old kitten. I’ve never had a vet spend so much time talking to me about my animal regarding what to expect and how to give care. You can tell he loves animals. I used Dr Carr because of the low cost spay certificate, but immediately changed to using him as my vet because of his care, knowledge, and the time he spent with me.

I highly recommend Dr. Carr and trust him to take great care of my pet. He is very compassionate and truly cares for clients and their pets. In my experience, it is very rare to find a doctor who will take time to help in any way needed. He is honest and fair. I have a geriatric dog with many needs. He took his personal time to comfort me and my pet.

I'm rating 5 stars for the friendly staff and great service! Everyone here is knowledgeable and friendly. Our cat Spice also gives it 5 stars because they give him treats. He doesn't care that they're healthy. Our cat Sugar would give 0 stars if she could. Those meanies poked her in the butt! Overall, I'm glad I called Pelham Animal clinic first when my babies needed their shots, despite Sugar's scathing review. 🤣

Today my childhood best friend had to be put to sleep. I have never experienced the level of care from any medical professional that I (and my sweet dog) received today. Dr. Carr and his staff went BEYOND above and beyond to comfort me while also taking care of our sweet Lucy. I will truly never be able to express how grateful I am.

I found PAC from the Blount County Animal Rescue list of veterinarians who honored their spayed/neuter voucher. We rescued a dog who desperately needed a home and medical attention. After going to PAC we decided to continue using them as our dogs primary doctor. We do not live close by, but the extra care they showed our dog and us was and is unbeatable! They contacted us after our dogs surgery several times. Also, took our call full of questions and concerns seriously and spent all the extra time we needed with out rushing us off. Thank you for taking the extra and time care we needed as pet

The best veterinary services in Pelham/Helena area (western Shelby County). Small staff, small office, SUPER friendly, family atmosphere. You NEVER feel like just a number and Dr. Carr is very accessible. Prices are on the lower end for the area but you receive great care. Dr. Carr goes above and beyond what most vets even consider offering in emergency situations or for urgent issues. They also give you options for multiple budgets if necessary. All of my dogs get excited when we they realize we're at the vet. Barkley, Peanut, Reece, and Cookie LOVE the staff at Pelham Animal Clinic!

I've been using Dr. Carr's practice for a little over 4 years now, getting close to 5 years. These are some of the most compassionate, knowledgeable, and caring veterinary folks I've met. My pets are always treated with kindness, and I am able to discuss any of my concerns with Dr. Carr. I honestly can't say enough great things about them. 10/10 would highly recommend!
