Buckley Day Camp believes that camp provides children the opportunity to learn life skills in a fun and nurturing environment. Whether it is on the soccer field, in the swimming pool or anywhere else around camp, we focus on teaching life skills such as teamwork, creativity, perseverance, respect and more.
Buckley is the place where families should feel confident that we are looking to help each child grow throughout the summer. Led by a Leadership Team with over 100 years of experience in camping and education, we know that there is nothing that inspires children more than a transformative camp experience.

Buckley Day Camp, located in Nassau County, Long Island, believes that camp provides children the opportunity to learn life skills in a fun and nurturing environment. Whether it is on the soccer field, in the swimming pool or anywhere else around camp, we focus on teaching life skills such as teamwork, creativity, perseverance, respect and more.
We provide transportation on air-conditioned, mini-buses for families who live in most of Nassau County, Eastern Manhattan and Queens. In addition to the bus driver, each bus has a bus counselor who works with the children and ensures a safe and fun bus ride to and from camp. Families who wish to drive their children to and from camp are eligible to save $40 per week, per child.
Our elective based program provides families with a different take on the traditional camp experience. As children grow with us, the elective based program provides campers the opportunity to meet and socialize with campers in the same grade as well as campers with similar interests. The Buckley staff combines the strength and enthusiasm of social workers, certified teachers, experienced college students and mature high school students.
I am beyond excited to be writing to you with good news. After the first hiatus in its over thirty-year history Buckley Day Camp will be reopening this summer. I am even more thrilled to be writing to you for the first time as the camp director of Buckley Day Camp. My first summer at Buckley was twenty-seven years ago as an eight-year-old boy.
Buckley Day Camp offers one of the highest staff to child ratios in the camping industry. With an overall ratio of approximately 1 staff to every 3 campers, we ensure that the needs of each camper and his/her family are met daily. Our retention rate for staff is over 65%. We continue to bring back the right staff each summer whose goal is to make each child's experience at Buckley special.

As a parent I could not ask for a better experience for my daughter! From the day she stepped on the campus as a a three year old the staff went out of their way to make her feel at home. They helped her try new foods, overcome her operation anxiety and learn how to swim. The progress she made in just a few weeks was remarkable! The best part was that the staff at Buckley made us feel included in every part of the camp experience! There is no camp like Buckley!

This will be my 6th year working at Buckley, and it’s the highlight of my year! If you are willing to make new friends, try new activities, and be a little silly- this is the place for you. It’s inclusive environment is the perfect fit for any type of kid, there will definitely be an activity for you. The staff works very hard to make sure every camper feels special and goes home with a smile on their face!

My child requires some extra attention. I did not find a consistent approach towards Special Ed students. Some days it seemed there was understanding and flexibility, other days it was impatience and punishment. My child's experience was subpar because of this. If your child has any Special Ed needs I would make sure to ask many questions before committing.

Think twice about sending your children here OR working here!!!!
First of all, the place is corrupt. The top two people running this organization are MARRIED. That means they can literally fire or hire you on a whim. Secondly, they say it's a "transition" camp but don't even bother to check the IEPs of some kids before allowing them back in if they've attended this camp prior and as long as their parents pay more money to keep them there. This means everyone suffers because the kid, who isn't receiving the professional help they need begins to lash out by hitting, kicking, biting, etc. anyone

My kids have been going to Buckley Day Camp for the past 3 summers and my son goes to the school as well. They love Buckley. The counselors are so accommodating and are very communicative. They have a great variety of workshops/selectivities for the older kids, including yoga, cooking classes, animation and lots of sports. It's a really long day for them (they get picked up after 4pm) but they really enjoy it.
