The Serrano family and Serrano Brothers Catering have been serving fantastic food and offering great service in the Elk River area for almost a decade. After years of their loyal customer's requests to open up a restaurant, the idea of Chow Grill was born. The same mission that they started their catering company 10 years ago still stands today.

Great food with very, very slow inattentive service. If you go, be sure to sit at the bar otherwise your waitress will disappear and not check back on you for a long time. It's also very difficult to order takeout over the phone. They won't answer because they never have enough staff, which has always been the case with this place even pre-pandemic. In the summer they have a patio which has a nice view of the Sherburne County Jail. Great place to bring the kids! Also it's very windy since it's located right on highway 10 and there's no walls or anything to keep your napkins

We watched all the tables around us get served (most came in way after we did). Finally, after asking where our food was and complaining to the server, we received our lukewarm entrees. I had to ask where my seasoned sour cream was, as it was not included when my food was served. As we arrived before it got busy, our expectations were sadly not met. I was underwhelmed.

Phenomenal service from our waitress Brenda. She made our first time experience wonderful. We were celebrating our 35th Anniversary and had prime rib. We had an issue with the prime rib being overcoooked, but they made it right. Loved their spicy Chow Margarita! We will definitely go back. Thanks to Brenda for making our night memorable!

Had a great dinner out on the outdoor seating area! We were seated quickly and had to wait very little for our water and order to be taken, despite being a larger party. The Grapefruit Mojito was good and hit the spot! Ordered the signature bolognese dish and it was good. The honey butter was great with the rolls they served. All other food dishes ordered in our party were "gooooood" (ribs, salad, rib eye) according to who ordered them. We love supporting local!

Food is good if you're willing to wait 40-50 minutes for the kitchen to get your food ready. When we got here, there were two tables inside and about 5-6 tables outdoors.
They are doing social distancing and requiring masks. Hand sanitizer is available.
I really liked my walleye entree a lot. The breading was well seasoned and crispy. The wild rice was also good.
I ordered a strawberry lemonade. I probably would skip it next time.
Overall great atmosphere, polite staff, and good food.

Came in for my Fiancé's birthday which also coincides with valentines weekend. We had requested a booth but didn't get one. A bit of a bummer but no worries. Unfortunately the dining room was absolutely freezing even just one table from the fireplace. The couple in front of the fireplace was freezing too, they told the server this. I think they needed to turn the heat up.
The server was pleasant. They were at about 30% (versus 50%) total capacity when we arrived and got busier after. The reason I mention this is I was a bit disappointed that our order took so long. It took a full 45

Smoked brisket, pappardelle, wild mushrooms in a cream sauce. This was soooo good! I'll have dreams about this pasta. Think beef stroganoff but 10 times better!

Cannoli was spoiled.
My wife's pasta was terrible.
My pasta was okay.
The wife sent back her pasta and got a burger, it was good.
This place needs to figure out what it wants to be if it is going to stay in business.
Should go full roadhouse with burgers and ribs and leave the culinary challenging dishes to other places.

I struggled with this rating SO much because the BBQ was really tasty and huge portions. For the BBQ, they get a 5. Their sides however get a 2. Avoid the Chow Chow. Described as pickled cole slaw it's more like slimy cabbage and the mac and cheese was seriously lacking salt and pepper. If you're looking for family friendly however, the atmosphere is great (albeit loud), the guests were intergenerational, and the pizza looked delicious!

Our journey started with the Smoked Wings. They were huge wings themselves, while we opted for the dry rub and habanero honey flavors. They were a good wing, but as tended to be the case, not great.

I have been here 3 times now, and this place has such potential. the restaurant/bar is clean open with a semi-industrial kinda feel to it with a big fireplace/hearth to greet you. One thing I like is when you walk in the smoking meat enervates your senses.
The first time we were here, we really enjoyed the pit beef cheese sandwich. This thing is a very large sandwich, and I'd suggest that you share it. The other cool item is the smoked cherry old fashioned (see picture). utterly awesome libation!

Ladies night out and we chose Chow for our girl party!
Upon entering, you're greeted with smiling hostesses and a stunning fireplace. We had reservations and they brought us to our table immediately.
We started with the charcuterie board, house made mustard seeds and garlic aioli on each bite was delectable. Risotto balls are very good and the perfect sharing size for our group of 5.
My friend and I shared the 1/2 rib 1/2 chicken with chow chow and Mac n cheese as our sides. The ribs and chicken were both killer, we were told the ribs generally sell out so we were lucky to get some.
