This locally owned shop is simply amazing! The variety of materials, tools, and equipment were better then I expected and the employees were so helpful as I was searching for something specific for a project! The shop offers classes and other various events to engage other quilters in the area. I'll definitely be back!

Beware of their classes!
I signed up for a class a few days before the scheduled date. On the day of the class I had an emergency and failed to attend it. The Education Director explained to me that "they are not responsible for emergencies" and I had lost my money because I failed to notify them 48 hours in advance. They have no provisions to reimburse, not reschedule the missed classes. As a customer, and during the pandemic when it's impossible to know the immediate future, it's unsettling that you don't have options unless you know you have to cancel with two days in

I love this store. Beautiful fabric selection, wonderful staff that is always very helpful, and great long arm service. I'm new to quilting and this was the first real fabric shop I visited and I have not found another one that beats it.

I took the Beginning Quilting class and the teacher was well-prepared and she made sure we all understood what we were to do. Our first step was ironing our fabric! I can’t even tell you when the last time I ironed. I was having some trouble with the rotor cutter and she was right there for me.
I had to leave early because I didn’t feel well. I’ll take the second class after we move into our new house. Can’t wait!

I stopped in for a yard of fabric on Saturday and came with a Babylock Brilliant in my bag!!!. Crystal went above and beyond!
I had been saving and watching the ads for months. I asked if the new Babylocks had come in (because they're hard to come by right now.) Crystal said no but they should be really soon. I purchased my fabric and started home when I received a text that the machines came in about 10 minutes after I left! Thank you Crystal!
That's OUTSTANDING customer service in my book! Crystal deserves 10 gold stars!
I have a new quilt shop!

Pros: After I had an unfortunate encounter with a sewing instructor in Deep Ellum, a friend recommended I go here, since she took a class a while back and really enjoyed it. I took my first class here last week and LOVED IT. It was clear I was by far the least experienced person in the (small, COVID-compliant) class, but the instructor (and another attendee -- who seemed to be at least another instructor if not a co-owner) helped me knock it out. It's been a LONG time since I've sewn, and I could not stop glowing after the class. It's so empowering to walk away with a completed handmade item. Can

I recently bought a Baby Lock Jazz II online. I wasn't aware of any local dealers at the time. I found Urban Spools was a dealer. I called and went in to have them help me with the threading. I knew I was doing something wrong, but couldn't figure it out. They were amazing, especially considering I did not buy the machine from them! Such sweet ladies. The teenager that works there knew an incredible amount of knowledge. She showed me the secret on the threading. I wish I could recall their names, but they were fantastic! I will not buy any more machines online again. I will be buying from Urban

A bit challenging to locate the first time. But I found the staff helpful and friendly. Called in advance to ask if they would donate to our local quilt guild. The gifts they donated were fantastic. Their class offerings were outstanding and different. They helped my granddaughter find some gifts and fabrics.

Awesome place! Stopped by on a Saturday evening for one of their sewing classes. I was greeted warmly by several staff members - all of whom were clearly experts at their craft and wonderful resources. I selected a fabric from their modern and well-priced selection (of mostly cottons). The class was more like a private lesson since I was the only attendee. I brought my basic sewing supplies as instructed, but turns out they had all of the basics to get me through my project (scissors, pins, etc.). The instructor was very welcoming and knowledgeable. I wasn't able to finish my top during class

Such an amazing shop for inspiration (they have finished quilts and projects on display). They do such an amazing job with fabric selection. I don’t think I ever left empty handed (and I’m pretty sure I was in there biweekly when we lived in Dallas). Everyone is extremely friendly and would always answer my questions on my latest projects. Would highly recommend for any skill level.

The. Fabric. Options. Are. Amazing!

As a newbie to the sewing world, I began researching fabric shops in Dallas and stumbled upon Urban Spools. So grateful. They have the largest selection of Alexander Henry designed fabrics around.

Whatever you may think about a standard small Quilting shop goes out the door when you see the reach of fabrics. Whether you like log cabins, makeup, loud prints, or a random solid color (mustard) you will find it here.

On average the fabric costs about, $11+ per yard, with no discounts unless there is a special going on. Which may be standard for some, but pretty

I am new to the sewing world and have just started making a few simple tops, teaching myself from patterns and blogs I read online. I drove across town to this store after seeing all of the gorgeous fabrics on Instagram and their classes online. The woman who greeted me was very sweet and helped direct me to the fabric I was interested in. She then introduced me to the teacher who had just walked in the store. I happened to be wearing one of the first tops that I made myself, and while far from perfect I am still pretty proud of my progress so far. The teacher pretty much immediately started ripping

What a great little store. Stopped in to see what they had and fell in love with their fabrics. They definitely have a great variety of unique fabrics that I hadn't seen in any other quilt store in the area. Staff was also great. Will definitely put it on my return shopping list.

Beautiful store, I could have purchased every bit of fabric! I was in town on business and was collecting the row by row sets for my mom. I thought the store closed at 6, but when I called at 4:50, I learned the store actually closed at 5. It was my last store of the day, and didn't want to take another drive to Dallas (traffic is awful!). The lady I spoke with graciously offered to stay open till I arrived. I was thrilled! Excellent customer service, I will definitely visit the next time I am in Dallas!

I took my first sewing class ever a few days ago. Jill was the instructor. Not only is she a very talented seamstress, her gifts as an instructor are exceptional.
I've already signed up for my next class.
Love this place.
For sewing shoppers, they've got the most appealing selection of fabrics I've ever seen.

This place is awesome! I came in with my sister and even though the shop is small we probably spent 30 minutes just looking around. They have an excellent selection of Cotton and Steel fabrics and their fat quarter precuts are well organized by color and $3 each. We bought fun Christmas fabric to make stockings and sincerely enjoyed our time there. Definitely worth the visit!

What a great fabric shop! I'm new to the Dallas area and I've been looking for a great place to find fun and cute fabric. I'm so happy I found Urban Spools! I've been to a few other popular places in town and this is hand down my favorite.

They have a wide variety of designers, like Michael Miller, Moda, Ella Blue, Windham, etc. They also have a good selection of solids from Kona, Moda, etc.

There's a wide selection of pre-cuts (charm packs, layer cakes, and jelly rolls) that are great for quilts. Takes the guess work out of matching patterns!
