Centrally located in Honesdale, the county seat of Wayne County, Pennsylvania, the Hotel Wayne is within walking distance of all major attractions including the downtown historic district, antique shops, art galleries, court house, and hospital. We are proud of our restaurant, Bistro 1202, which is the only AAA Diamond Rated restaurant in Honesdale.
Our CIA trained chef offers very creative and classic American food. The same menu is served in the restaurant, lounge and outdoor porch. Guests enjoy our hotel lounge which features turn of the century decor (19th Century!) and an excellent selection of beer and wine in a very comfortable setting.

Services
The Hotel Wayne was originally constructed in 1827 and rebuilt in 1895. It has been maintained since then as an elegant, small town, country hotel and has undergone a complete renovation in early 2009. The ground floor has a large lounge and impressive entrance lobby, with a classical, grand staircase.
Once construction of the Delaware & Hudson Canal began, there was an immediate need to provide housing for the superintendents overseeing the project as well as the multitude of men working on the actual construction of the canal. Charles Forbes built the first public house in Honesdale in 1827 on the corner of what are now Park and Main Streets.
The restaurant in the Hotel Wayne features a spacious historic dining room with original brick walls, and lofty 12-foot tin ceilings. Bistro 1202 is Honesdale's premier restaurant serving Classical American and French cuisine along with creative fusion fare incorporating Asian, Mexican, and Southwestern influences.
Wayne County offers a variety of outdoor experiences, activities, events and other points of interest to enhance the event. There are four golf courses within a short drive, from an executive 9 hole to a PGA rated course. The Delaware River, Lake Wallenpaupack, and Prompton Recreation areas offer Boating, Fishing, Hiking, Biking, Snowshoeing and other outdoor activities for the enthusiast or the beginner.
The Hotel Wayne's meeting and dining venues offer a variety of settings from very private meetings in our Philip Hone room, to more open events in our Main Room or our Wayne County Room. Our excellent cuisine is served in all locations. Lounge: Perfect for a cocktail hour with 12 foot high original tin ceilings, classic bar, couch, & fireplace.

Went there for their Christmas dinner of prime rib. When we made the reservations, we were told two sizes of meat and prices of $17.95 & $25.95. So once getting there, there was only one size at $37.95!!! Then the meat wasn't cooked (slow roasted with nice spices on the crust) nope pre cut pieces put in the microwave. All came out that ugly grey color. No flavoring. Green beans were horrible. So will we go back...no. A lot of money for not a lot of good food.

Please please please don’t ever stay here. My family and I stayed here for 2 days 1 night and it was the worst experience ever. One of my family members ended up finding bed bugs all over their pillow and bed and ended up having to leave to find another place to stay. On top of that all the rooms and bathrooms were dirty and looked like they haven’t been cleaned ever. Hair all over the bathroom and shower. Dirt and gunk on the shower floor. Absolutely disgusting. The entire building needs to be renovated and cleaned out for bed bugs bc it is unacceptable. Save yourselves the pain from staying

I got married in Honesdale this past Saturday (9/18). We chose to stay at the Hotel Wayne because it had a bar downstairs. We stuck with our choice despite the fact the hotel was overpriced for what it is and where it’s located, it cannot accommodate handicap people, some people could barely fit into their tiny bathrooms, and at least one of friends had stained sheets, because of the convenience of it having a bar.
A couple friends and I stayed Friday night as well and had a great time. The bartender working Friday night was great. We hung out and spent a lot of money, seeing as they’re charging

Nothing to add that hasn't been said. +1 to everything in Kristina S.'s review. Spot on.
Only other thing is that the intersection on Main St is bustling with heavy trucks early in the morning. Hope you're not planning on sleeping late.
Hotel has charm, really unique. Leave your expectations of chains behind and enjoy this slice of nostalgia for what it is.
If your travels take you in this direction, would certainly recommend.

I stayed 3 nights here with my family. We are a family of 5. We were promised 4 beds, we got 2 and a cot. Not only that, there were spiders and ants all over the walls. The ceiling also had mold and was disgusting. To add on, the security was very poor, none of the locks on the doors worked, and you could push the door open when it was locked. This did not make us feel safe. The last thing was no smoking policy. They have a no inside smoking rule, yet the hallways smell like cigarettes and mold. Quite difficult to breathe with Asthma. I do not recommend this hotel. Not only that, the shower would

Expedia and other sites have referred to the Hotel Wayne as a "three-star hotel." It isn't - not even close. I stayed in two-star hotels on our Poconos trip that offered far more in the way of amenities and comfort (and were also less expensive). Yes, it's a historic building with a lot of charm, especially in the restaurant. But there are simple fixes that could make this old hotel so much more. On the plus side, the staff was nice and it's a quick walk into Honesdale's Main Street of shops.

I find the negative reviews a bit strange. I rented a room at the last minute. It turned out to be a little apartment and was very nice. O thought I had posted a review already. The staff at the restaurant were very nice and the drinks were good and a nice price as well. I could understand not loving the place but disliking it seems really weird to me. It's definitely a good place to stay!

This review is only for the restaurant. Wow. It's delicious. Staff is polite. The cheesesteak was absolutely scrumptious. I appreciated the portions, and the fries were good, too. My father and friends got the buffalo chicken sandwich, the bacon cheeseburger, and the sliders. All of them were fantastic and all of us cleaned our plates. Definitely would recommend this food.

We stopped here on our first night in the area, it was recommended by the staff at the bed and breakfast we were staying at. I got the lobster bisque as a appetizer, while it wasnt alot of lobster, the taste was spot on. For dinner I ordered the shrimp and scallop dish. This dish was so good and they give you a ton of food, I had to get a to go container. I highly recommend this spot if you are in the neighborhood. Also, there is a wine store next door in case you need any wine for your vacation.

Great historic find in downtown Honesdale. 200 year old building!?!? Rooms are spacious and clean and hotel has everything I need (except fitness room). Restaurant and bar in lobby are excellent and of course very convenient. Staff is welcoming and accommodating and better than what you get at the usual generic chain hotels. First hotel I've ever stayed at that has been featured on "Ghost Hunters". Will stay again.

This Saturday we went for lunch and service was lackadaisical. Our waitress delivered fried sweet potatoes, that were wonderful, but spilled them all over the table. Put them back on the plate and barely apologized. Food was great, but service was lacking. A lady fell on the steps coming in and I got up to see if she was ok, but her husband had her on her feet. The couple was in their 60/70s. I told the bartender who was busy eating, and no one from the restaurant even approached then sure the were ok. I'm pretty sure I saw waitress talk to owner or manager and they dismissed the incident

I'm from New Jersey in a suburb right outside of NYC and was in the middle of nowhere PA for a wedding. My bf and I stayed here at the Hotel Wayne for two nights. Lots of good and some bad. Here it is.
Pros:
1. Wi-Fi
2. Friendly hotel staff that will actually go the extra mile for you - we missed the shuttle to the wedding venue and Jen made sure we got a taxi that was coming from the other hotel with two other people that missed the shuttle as well. She was on top of it and kept us updated.
3. Big room - maybe because we had the corner (room 316) but it was quite large, had a desk, dresser

A 3 star should have been the warning but when options are limited, you stay where there is availability. I booked over 3 weeks ago for a wedding in the area. I get to the hotel after a 3 hour trip to find that my room was canceled. Apparently someone by the name of Chelsy tried to contact me via email (since whomever booked my reservation did not input my phone number) but the email never went through since it was not sent correctly. I received the confirmation without any problem. Jim the "manager" was of no help and basically "was my problem". So I'll be missing

My husband and I stayed here while visiting family. The history of the hotel is very interesting. Beds were nice. Plumbing is an issue. If you shower and someone else nearby and not in the same room flushes, you better be prepared for the ice cold water. Check out is at 11. Cleaning staff walked right in our room a little after 9. We hadn't checked out yet so not sure where the confusion was. No apology was given. Good thing we had just dressed or she would've had an eye full. 2nd and 3rd floors smelled bad, which could be from the dirty dingy carpets that looked like they've never

We are from out of town and we were enjoying driving thru the town of Honesdale. It was a Tuesday night around 8:45 pm and we were hungry. We saw the hotel and decided to try it for dinner. We were greeted by a very sweet and bubbly waitress who offered us a seat in the dining room. We were concerned that they were closing soon and she said the kitchen closes at 9 but not to worry. We ordered a full dinner from lobster bisque soup to sirloin steak and baby back ribs. The food was delicious! Hot, fresh and very flavorful. We were never rushed or uncomfortable especially being the only customers

Beautiful old building has the makings of a great place. Unfortunately, this old house is a fixer upper. Plumbing has problems, heating and air conditioning are patchwork remedies (portable heaters available in rooms, air conditioners are window units stored in closets). There's so much potential here. Plaster walls are now covered by painted paneling and ceilings are the drop-grid-with-tiles variety. If you are expecting a hairdryer in the room, you'll have to ask for it. No elevator. Restaurant is ok, but my experience will not earn a return visit. The best part about this hotel is

Wow what a transformation when the new owners or management took over this establishment half a dozen or more years ago. The food is very tasty and I have never left hungry. The staff is professional and not overly attentive. I was really surprised last week to make a meal selection of just a few appetizers. I highly recommend them as they are very tasty. Consistent quality of food and service.

I would love to recommend the Hotel Wayne, but I can't. Even with the dearth of options, in/near Honesdale, it doesn't rise above the level of mediocre.
The building is historic, but I'm afraid that extends to the plumbing. If anyone, anywhere in the hotel, flushes a toilet, everyone's hot water disappears for minutes. If you're washing your hands, this may not hinder you. But if you're showering, it's a prohibitive problem.
The rooms are in desperate need of updating, from the stained carpeting to the bed frames. The queen bed rooms are spacious enough, but

Me and my wife wanted to try something different for our night out. so I suggested we give Hotel Wayne another try after 20 years. back then it was a bar/poolroom but now the ambience has changed. The bacon blue cheese burger with crispy sweet potatoe wedges were the best I've had in a very long time. My wife absolutely loved the veggie burger sliders as well. we will definitely be back soon. Kudos to the chef and staff!
