This is absolutely the worst living situation I have ever experienced (and at the last place I lived, there was an armed robbery resulting in the death of one of my neighbors pets).
The management sprung a remodel in every unit of the building while residents occupied each one. Our lives were put on hold for 2 months (construction quoted at 2 weeks) while a very sloppy construction crew came in and out at will. Construction is "supposedly" for the common good! But for some unanticipated planning mishap or miscommunication, the heater never came back! Say what , it's been a month or so ? Now to add to this , there is no hot water! Talking about injustice, try taking a shower without hot water in the dead of winter. Maybe it isn't officially winter yet but it's already damn cold. I was supposed to get a washer and dryer installed in my unit and something in my kitchen. Got numerous notices to clear out 3 closets and kitchen cabs by tomorrow 8/25/21. Which I did 3 hours today. Now they tell me at 5:30pm it’s been rescheduled to next week. I have 3 closets of clothes on my couches I can’t sit on and a dining room table of pantry items and no reschedule date

Please please stay away from this company. Took our partial deposit on new application and the next day we’re approved so they ask to accept and move in as they can hold the apartment only for 2 days. We weren’t ready to move forward so we had to cancel and the property manager who called said he issued refund. 20 days later no sign of the refund, countless calls and voicemails, and nobody answered or called back. Greedy company deserves nothing but no business at all!

My boyfriend & I made an appointment for yesterday at 11:30 am to tour an apartment. I made this appointment about a week out. We get there yesterday & I call the leasing office to let us in because we don't have a key or code to get in. No answers for 15 minutes as we are just standing outside. I even leave a message explaining that we have an appointment at 11:30 & it's already 11:45 & we have no way of getting inside. I scheduled a viewing for this afternoon and I showed up at the apartment on time. Nobody showed up! I called the number on their website several times and I was told to call the leasing office at a different number. Nobody answered the call and voicemail was not set up either. I don't think I want to rent here, never going back!

I loved living here but my only complaint is people take packages! When I lived here my packages ended up missing twice ( granted, the delivery man left them out in the open).
Now, months after living there, I had 3 expensive packages left there thx to my address being saved in my amazon account... Although I promptly called the building manager, the current residents of 118 havent seen my packages although one was left in the mailbox itself...
It was two dresses ( one yellow and one gold and black) that I had been waiting to splurge on, some jewelry, a coat, and a phone.

I had to schedule a viewing nearly 2 weeks out because of the very limited viewing schedule. But that's ok, one can deal with that, luckily my job is flexible and I could leave early.

Management has gone down the drain. I've been here for 2 years and I can't wait till my lease is up. I call multiple times for some very important building problem (this was on 7/12) and no answer or call back.
I've done this several times and no call returns.
And now same issue I've called and left multiple voicemails and still no call returned...

Was called less than an hour before the appointment I made and told I couldn't see the unit because it wasn't available. If it wasn't available, why wasn't I contacted a week ago instead of right before the appointment? I took time off work to see the place.

First, let me say that they only received ONE star because I could not post ZERO stars.
On 2/28/17, I call the main number listed on their website (650) 517-7370 (apparently this is the central leasing office?). The person gives me the main line to the leasing phone as (650) 341-9811. I call and make an appointment to view a unit that apparently was available starting 3/7/17. I make the appointment for 3/8/17 at 12PM. The person on the phone asks if we can do it 1130AM instead so the person that is there can go to lunch. OK, no problem.

+ Location is nice - walking distance to Caltrain and Hillsdale Shopping Mall. We lived on 3-d floor , it was pretty quite and isolated.
- The carpet in common areas and halls is extremely dirty,
-elevators are old and slow,
-always had to drive into the garage extremely slow not to scratch the bottom of my car. 50/50 that you scratch it.
- The pool was dirty quite frequently,
- washing machines smell really bad. Some old man took out my clothes from the dryer and put on dirty table when I was 10 minutes late to take them out myself. He was like "I hope you do not mind I took them out

What is going on with property management at Hillsdale Square?
The Hillsdale Square newsletter forum is consistently ignored since property manager is working at several properties instead of just this one. Tenants leave upset messages on this forum about sensitive time package deliveries and even a bike was stolen, but they get ignored. Instead, tenants get "useful" messages about recipes and random Bay Area events.

My husband and I lived at Hillsdale Square Apartments for a year and are leaving because we will be moving to LA. I felt compelled to write this review because it is always the entitled, whiny yelpers that leave reviews. We loved this apartment complex for several reasons:

I somewhat recently moved out of Hillsdale Square, and figured enough time has passed that I can reflect on it.
The location is great, I miss being that close to cal train and all the shops on 25th ave. But there are tons of places close to Caltrain and great shops.
Hillsdale Square has something many other places don't - great management. Elieen is probably the most honest manager I have ever had. I can see how some other reviewers are off put by her honesty(referring to a recent review about her telling someone "where else are you gonna live"), but the thing is, shes right

I can't comment on the apartments, since I can't see any more than 2 four-year-old pictures taken with a camera phone at best. I will note, however, that if you want to look at anything, be prepared to be shown the barrel you will be bent over by Eileen, the manager who runs the leasing office. Completely unfriendly and uninterested in leasing me an apartment, she boasted about how she had rented many apartments out sight unseen. What a salesperson! If you enjoy a "Where else are you gonna go?" sales pitch, stop on by. I shan't.
