La Buvette Wine & Grocery
Masks are required for entry and when not seated. Masks must be worn when not seated, including shopping, browsing wine, getting a beer, using the restroom, and at the register. La Buvette is a unique, intimate wine bar and grocery in the Old Market area of downtown Omaha. We offer a French menu, bar, grocery, bread baked daily, and an extensive wine selection.

Since owners Mark and Vera Mercer opened La Buvette in 1991, the cafe has been, at its heart, a reflection of the diverse Old Market neighborhood, drawing residents young and old for social gatherings and intimate conversations. Come in, have a seat. Browse the bottles of wine - feel free to bring one to your table to drink.
Services
La Buvette offers a unique wine experience. Order a glass from the menu, or select a bottle off the shelf from our vast collection of domestic and import wines. Pay the sticker price (off-sale retail price) and a corkage fee in lieu of the standard markup that restaurants normally charge for their wines by the bottle.

This was my second time here. I can't believe I didn't write a review before this. I really enjoy the feeling of La Bauvette. It feels very old town. It's comfortable and there are a ton of options. Literally every food item we ordered was amazing. There were three of us and we shared a good bit of food together. Two of us shared a bottle of wine and the third ordered their own. The wine was awesome. They gave plenty of bread as well. The young man that was working in the kitchen worked so incredibly hard and he did such a nice job. Our server didn't seem to interested in conversation

What a great cozy spot for a date night!
The vibe inside was right and the wait staff were very knowledgeable and friendly!

The food was amazing! Most dishes come with a pile of bread and butter. I will be dreaming about their brioche and will be stopping back in for a loaf soon! Come ready to carb load .

Let's talk wines.
We were overwhelmed with all of the options so we stuck to the by the glass menu our first go round. The Tempranillo was a great wine pick! (Forgot to note the vineyard/vintage). You can also browse their extensive collection sorted by regions/varieties and pay the

We picked up from Dario's for our wedding anniversary. The Wagyu short ribs were soft and delectable and the veggies paired wonderfully. The charcuterie board was the perfect starter for this meal. And my wife loved the salmon with roasted potatoes and vegetables. Highly recommend Dario's for a dinner meal!

Take your chances here. I’ve heard good reviews, but I went with my partner for their birthday and we regret it.
-“Please wait to be seated†was posted everywhere.
-We waited to be seated for 20+ minutes without a single word from staff.
-A staff member cleaned a table directly in front of us while we browsed the food menu, others made eye contact with us; none of them acknowledged we were present.
-Eventually, I brought this to the attention of a server as they were chit-chatting behind the counter. Their response: “We are also a grocery store. I thought you were browsingâ€. This

La Buvette is an Omaha staple. They have an absolutely amazing wine and alcohol selection. The ambiance is one of a kind and their patio is comfortable the majority of the year. The staple menu has great selections but the star of the show is the menu that changes daily/weekly. Here you will find a rotation of chef classics like beef bourgeon, chicken curry salad, mussels, and homemade burrata.

Some comment that the staff is off putting or unhelpful, but if you have spent anytime abroad, you will feel at home as it is a Euro-inspired cafe style restaurant. Staff will not fawn over you

I've been coming here for years. Wine selection is always spot on, as is the food choices.

The only draw back is the distain vibe the staff exudes. Ask a question and you're looked down upon. Let alone ask a cheese question and you're lucky they don't let you to leave.

Fun little place with outstanding food. Love the freshly made seasonal items as well as the tasty meat/cheese trays to go with their assortment of wines.

Fabulous as always. The warm bread and hand made butter is an excellent start off to the meal. This is my 2nd time going and it was better than the first. I had the fig stuffed quail with squash puree and roasted grapes. The plating was beautiful and it tasted amazing! I'd never had quail before, this and my mind was blown :)

We're longtime fans of the impressive and surprisingly affordable wine selection and that patio. The food around us looked wonderful but the cheese plate we ordered was lackluster, the individual who dropped it off didn't even bother to tell us what cheeses were on there and my goodness our waitress was cold and unfriendly. I'd like to give the benefit of an off day but after reading so many reviews saying others have the same issues with service here, no way. This was CLEARLY not a one off. The owner and manager should really work to address this because I don't care how cool

Definitely one of my FAVORITE spots in Omaha - it’s a little piece of France 🇫🇷 in the Old Market!
It is ALWAYS busy and well worth waiting for!
It is a fantastic French experience that will flood you with memories if you’ve ever been!
The wine selection is amazing and the food is out of this world! From amazing charcuterie to the finest in French Cuisine!
The people watching under the covered and heated patio is simply wonderful!
And just like in France 🇫🇷 smoking is allowed on the patio!

It is such a beautiful and romantic space. I've been in Omaha for two years and we've probably ate here 12 times. The prices are a bit expensive but the wines are fairly cheap. The menu items tend to be sold out by late lunch or the end of the day. We've tried the beef bourguignon, skate fish, melon gazpacho, mussels, andouillette, and several other dishes. We also had a few desserts but they weren't impressive. The pavlova tastes like chalk! The portions look a bit small, but because they offer everything with bread it fills you up!

The service here is okay but they are quick

FAV PLACE! I feel super fancy when I come here and leave feeling like a queen! I've never gotten anything I didn't like! The burrata and tomatoes are of course amazing! I've also gotten salads and soups which are incredible! I'm obsessed with La Buvette! Delicious and I feel like I'm in Europe when I walk in!

La Buvette is a gem ! This restaurant could easily be picked up and dropped in NYC and charge 3xs what they do. The changing daily specials, the one time corking fee and that home made butter are my top 3 favorite reasons to eat here.

French is not my first pick of a food style. But there are staples here that are always amazing if the specials aren't your style. The humus, charcuteries and wine selections are a perfect way to spend an afternoon.

If your walking by, at a minimum, get a baguette and butter to go !!!!

It's been quite a while since we've been to beloved omaha favorite, La Buvette. And while I can say I was a better experience, I still wasn't in awe. What can I say, it's just a polarizing place and I'm not on the long-time fan side of things. Several items were sold out, service was actually okay, but it was all just... fine? Good? Above average? It was very fresh and tasty. I just wasn't as thrilled as I wanted to be. Location obviously can't be beat for people watching though!

I visited this place on a rainy Sunday afternoon in the middle of May. I was very pleased with the food I ordered during my first visit to this restaurant. I ordered a chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies dish in addition to a meat board. The chicken was perfectly cooked and I enjoyed the citrus element to the dish. The meat board was also tasty and fresh.
The service did fall a little short though and it's what keeps me from rating this place a full 5 stars. I'll give the waiter the benefit of the doubt and assume that the restaurant may have been short staffed and is what affected the service

This place is an entire movement. The feel of an authentic french grocery; a bakery in the basement, you come in to shop or be seated. The cooks are hustling in a small 11 foot box. Everything is carefully hand crafted and you can see theirs pride and effort into every plate they push out. The rabbit bolognese polenta was phenomenal. Theres this cola braised knuckle that has convinced me that I need to go again and again. This is an Old Market fixture. Here you can come in with a small group of homies and perhaps your lady. And stay for 5 hours ordering wine and small plates till you burst. In

There is no question that my parents and I are in love with La Buvette (we dine here once a week.) The staff is so cool - the food is consistently delicious - and the wine is divine. It will always be my favorite spot in Omaha.

I love that they made the outdoor patio weather and covid friendly - so enjoyable to be able to dine outside on a beautiful day!

Love you all Buvettes!

I've neglected La Buvette in favor of its more sophisticated sister a block away, Le Boullion. That's on me.

Both are worthy of attention, two French gems in Omaha. They feature attached wine shops and fabulous French-inspired food, two excellent reasons to go to any restaurant.

La Buvette's wine bottles are strewn about the store, racked in wine boxes right next to your table. The service, the food, the atmosphere is casual, wine-focused bistro on the outskirts of Paris. Not only can you get a great meal here, but you can pick up some cheese, imported olives, and a pot of

If you are looking for a super casual place to hang out and drink some wine, this is the place.
A grocery store and wine bar combined located in the old market.
Corkage fee is 4.50 for a bottle.
Service was good to great depending on who you get.
There was an extraordinarily long wait time for our food yesterday.
Still, when you get it, the food is generally very good. Our main meals were excellent.
Bread service is free with the meal, but if you are just having wine, it will be 3.00.
The dessert had a bit more of a marshmallow texture than I expected for a Panna cotta. Was not a fan of

Amazing wine, food, and service!
My husband and I just moved to the area and we were on the hunt to find a wine bar and La Buvette is definitely going to be a place we go to often! The food was delicious, the wine selection was fantastic, and the service was absolutely wonderful. We had a waiter and a waitress check on us a couple of times and they both were always so friendly! We sat outside on the patio with our dog and really enjoyed our lunch there. The waitstaff was also super friendly about us having our dog with us on the patio and made it obvious that they were very dog friendly which
