I came for a folk music concert, it was a more casual event and everything was fine. There was an opening act by a "radical" singer that spoke the politics so directly as to take any poetry or spirit out of anything artistic, all the right words without the right way of saying them. The space is boxy and not overtly attractive but it's a relatively intimate space where you aren't too far too see the performance details up close.

Weirdest theater experience to date, tonight, at Symphony Space -- and not in the good sense. The front lobby staff was so oddly rude to a family member with limited English proficiency we started recording it -- from odd phrases used to aggressive body language, about as unwelcoming as we could have imagined. We ended up eating at a diner around the corner, and singing for the others at the table instead ..

Attended an event with my child. The theater is on the smaller side compared to others. The seats are comfortable and offers enough leg space. The mezzanine seats offer Good viewing from both sides. Food and beverages are not allowed. Bathrooms are clean. Offers a variety of events and shows for all ages.
1,2,3 station very close (less than a block).

I've been to Symphony Space a few times for the free The Orchestra Now (TON) concerts. It's a little disorganized; at first I was told I didn't need a ticket and then I had to wait on a long line a second time to get one. The crowd skews to older (say retirement age) and entitled UWS types, but there are young people and middle aged folks too. All of the orchestra seats have good views and the acoustics are fantastic. I've only sat at the floor level, but the small balcony looks cute too. The bathrooms are clean and the line moves surprisingly quickly.
It's a great space

What a great not-for-profit theater!
I recently attended an event that rented out Symphony Space. We had the pleasure of meeting and conversing with Marsha - the house manager, and Iman - an usher. I cannot say enough amazing things about them. They were so kind and helpful. You could tell they love their jobs!
The venue is very cute and during the summer people from the neighborhood donate books, DVDs, and CDs to the theater to sell for close to nothing. I highly recommend checking it out! We got to browse the books while waiting for our event to start and they had some really great options

We went to see Emeline Michel perform and it was great! We sat in orchestra row K, in the aisle and we could see the stage very well. The seats were comfortable and there was plenty of legroom for most. The sound and lighting was perfect and didn't disappoint... just wish the show was a little longer!

Terrible. There is no excuse for the woman in the box office to gaslight me and tell me I don't know what concert I am buying a ticket for. Really? After 5 minutes of challenging back-and-forth and me literally spelling out the name of the artist, she found it. Then she demanded fees without so much of an apology or eye contact. This interaction (remember I'm *buying* tickets, therefore paying her salary) was tinged with an undercurrent of racism and microaggression which I am sad to report. I expect more from a venue that claims to be a "uniquely warm and welcoming environment

I saw Jocko Willink at Symphony Space in January, 2019. The place is an excellent place to see any kind of performance. Easy entrance, easy exit, adequate facilities and a close intimate environment. Seeing and listening to Jocko & Echo met all my expectations of listening to one of the great speakers/leaders/motivators of our time.

I've visited Symphony Space on two occasions. The first time, a few years ago, in the larger Sharp Theater, just after it was announced from the stage that "*flash* photography" was not permitted during the show, one of the ushers yelled (no, he didn't ask, he didn't request, he didn't tell, he yelled) at me for merely holding a camera, which I had on the non-flash setting. Welcome to New York! I would have explained to him what was actually going on (he apparently missed the announcement), but the show was about to begin. Much more recently, I attended a concert in

A very nice venue, right across the street from the 96th St. Station (if you're driving, and get lucky, there is on street parking, but Broadway itself is metered parking 1 Hour only, until 10PM, so not very useful to evening event attendees), a great sound system, and intimate enough - where there's really not a bad seat in the house.
If you're thinking of going here, many of the concerts are sponsored by separate cultural organizations, who are also selling tickets, visit their websites first, as tickets might possibly be had at a substantial discount over the Symphony Space

Symphony Space is a wonderful not for profit venue. They hosted a special performance I attended. What a wonderful evening. The employees were organized and on schedule for our large group. The lobby and theater are beautiful and clean. You won't see dirty seats with tatters here. Very well maintained comfortable environment. I was so relieved during the performance that the theater was a perfect temperature. I was afraid I would either freeze, or worse, burn up from the heat.
Seating is perfect for viewing a live stage performance. Not that I'm an expert. I was there early and found

This venue is one of the reasons and spaces that epitomizes my hometown, NYC - as extraordinary and special. Living in Orlando now for some 13 years, I still crave the cultural infusion of all that NYC has to offer. As a graduate of Columbia U, friends and I took advantage of these unique cultural venues - like Symphony Space - to experience cultural productions at affordable prices (even cheaper in the 1980s during my hey day as a young 20-something culture vulture): some very unique some not so unique but still special. Orlando is very quaint by comparison. I love NYC and venues like Symphony

Great place for alternative movies and I appreciate that they played an international movie. I just wish that they would have a better ticketing team with a concern for spelling of the movies. The name of the movie is ELIS, not ELLIS. I bet they would never misspell an English titled movie. Pay attention to forms. Ask people to double check spelling. It's just sends a message of disregard that doesn't sit well.

The Warren Miller show last night was a clusterf*ck. None of the employees knew where to get the voucher, or where to find the promoter(s), people were starting to get mad and 1 employee says sorry but it's not my problem lol reason 357897642567 why New York is the most overrated city on earth, utter disorganization and sh*t people. Theatre was pretty clean, poor visibility from the upper deck seats unless you hang over the railing or you're 6'4". Easy to get to from West Side Highway.

Symphony Space has wonderful performances. My only complaint is that the seating is so tightly packed together that it can be uncomfortable if you are sitting next to someone who is built like a linebacker. Also, I find that the seats in each row are practically right in front of each other. I had a ten year old sitting in front of me. She was very slight in build but when she sat up straight I could see nothing but the back of her head!! I had to move my head from side to side in order to try to get a glimpse of the stage. I overheard a few patrons saying that they had a problem viewing the

We bought our girls tickets to some French Canadian Cirque du Soleil type show and it turns out that a semi significant snow storm occurs on the day of the performance.
The question was, do we venture to the Upper West Side for the show or do we eat the tickets. As we well know, I am allergic to cheap, but throwing money away makes me downright sick! So we went and I'm glad we did!
The show was pretty good, lots of acrobatics, juggling and magic. The seats were comfortable, the acoustics were good and the ticket holders line moved fairly quickly.
The only real negative was the bathroom
