Film-making is about translating psychologies into behavior. As a director, I felt a pragmatic need to comprehend the tools, techniques and emotions on the other side of the lens. Recommended by an actress-friend, I stumbled into Ballistics, petrified and unequipped. However - punch-drunk and bewildered - it opened my eyes.
Here's our Top-5 Highlights for how to get the most out of the Weekly Classes at the studio. Does not apply to our performances, . Watch a handful of our actors bring their own personal take to the same roles in the same scene. This was part of "Co-Star Sides" scene. Joining Kimball Studio was one of the best things I did for myself in all my years living in NYC. The teachers have such deep respect for actors and are incredibly supportive of as us humans in addition to the incredible technique work of acting on camera. The students are also the most supportive group of actors I've found at any studio and genuinely root for each other. Coming from a theatrical background, this studio has given me the confidence and taught me such invaluable tools to hold my own in front of a camera. Lastly, they're super accommodating when it comes to scheduling with a great

I have been taking classes at Kimball Studio for years. If you're an actor committed to growing or are just beginning and want to learn everything you need to know, I'd be doing a disservice to you by saying anything less than--you are so lucky to have found it. As a fellow new to the studio classmate said to me recently, "I'm so grateful to have found this place, I just wish I had found it sooner." I decided to take some acting to enhance my writing. I was terrified that the real actors would lose patience with me and not want me there. Not the case at all. Dan is an incredible instructor and has a gift for knowing exactly how to gently give direction, knowing what each person needs to improve. The students are all different levels but everyone puts themselves in 100 percent because the atmosphere is very nurturing and safe. It's fun. It's scary. It's wonderful.

I attended a class. The students weren't very friendly and seemed to have a clique. There wasn't much critique at all, the instructor would call a student up tell them something to do for 30 seconds and that was it until he called "next".
It's improv I guess? It didn't seem like a place j could learn or grow as an actor or artist, zero technique but I think if you need to get comfortable being in front of people then it would be helpful.
