Jazz is a unique, interactive musical art form. Masterful jazz performances rarely just happen. They are the result of improvisational talent, practice, and carefully honed skills developed through education. Your musically inclined children can learn to be creatively adventurous and free through jazz education classes being taught by dedicated master-level professional musicians at the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz.
Services
The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts (PCC) was founded in 1935 by James Adams and members of Local No. 274 as the Local's social club. Local No. 274 was Philadelphia's African American musicians union. At a time when the city's African American musicians struggled for political, economic and cultural recognition, Local No. 274 gave them representation and broke a tradition of segregation.
For more than 20 years, the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz & Performing Arts has offered a music education program. In 2014, "Giant Steps Music and Performing Arts Program" was established designed to serve youth in public and charter schools offering a service to schools without music education programs.
Considered a historic icon in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Clef Club offers public performances by leading Jazz artists and a music education program, which predominately targets youth participants. We have a unique opportunity to build on Philadelphia Clef Club's legacy and influence the upward trajectory of Jazz education and presentation in Philadelphia.

Did not like my experience. I sent an email and have not received a response. Several years ago I was disrespected as a volunteer. The two males, one dark-skinned (black), fat and old, and the other fair/light-skinned, fat and old, were at the front desk during the time/performance I was volunteering and made me feel uncomfortable. The dark-skinned male gave me a creepy compliment about my posture and the fair/light-skinned one yelled at me when I was "taking too long" to tell him where I directed a couple to the bathroom. Very ungrateful; I did not have to be there. Philly and black people up

This is a nice, intimate location for concerts. I go to see Kindred Presents from time to time. It can get really cozy, though, so you want to arrive early when the doors open for whatever show you go to. Overall, the staff is nice and the facilities are clean with cozy ambiance. The drinks are a good price and strong. My only issue is that there is no bar on the lower floor and it would be better if every show had wait staff taking orders instead of folks having to go back-and-forth upstairs to get drinks.

I haven't been to the Clef club in a decade. I forgot what a great venue it is. The tiered riser cocktail tables are a perfect combination of comfortable seating and a great view of the stage. I was there for a professional organization program, but look forward to hearing some more jazz there. Great little bar at the top of the seating too!

Always hear the most amazing talented musicians. Been going there for five years. Many musicians in the audience. They know each other. It feels like family to me, all different races and ages. Nothing like it in the world. And now they have a publicity person who is getting the word out and this concert series had funding from PNC bank.

Nice bar area. Acoustics- great! Sound and lighting guy was great. VIP tickets aren't worth it if you don't like table style seating and being sandwiched into one area. It's pretty tight. Above is good spacing. You can see from all views and angles. Upper bar area is pretty cool. Need some updating and solid drink menu (he didn't know how to make a mojito). Parking is tough but you'll find it and will probably have to walk but not too far and most areas are well lit. Would go again. It was a fun night out.

I have not attended an event at this venue in quite some. It was the best inexpensive presentation ever that included the youth students. My child will start learning violin in her elementary school, I will make it my business to take her and her siblings to this venue and maybe enroll her in classes. They need to know what their possibilities are. I absolutely loved John Blake! I must buy his CD for them.
