We often like to say we sell the types of bikes that other shops don't carry. Or that if you see an unusual looking bike that you've never seen before out on the local trails, there's a good chance it came from here. Those are the short, snappy answers to the question of what we do here, but a more in-depth answer is; we provide support to a segment of the cycling community that is largely underserved in the mainstream bike world.
We believe everyone should be able to enjoy the freedom a set of wheels can bring. Recumbents allow you to ride in a relaxed position that's easy on joints for greater comfort and ease of longer rides with less fatigue, but also provide a more aerodynamic position that allows you to go faster than a conventional bike.

Services
We carry a wide range of cycles from brands such as; Brompton, Tern, Dahon, Bacchetta, HP Velotechnik, HASE, ICE, TerraTrike, Catrike, Avenue Trikes, Greenspeed, Jamis, Surly, All-City, Breezer and SUN. We can service just about anything but if you are talking: Longbikes, Bike-E, Vision, Ryan, WizWheels, Easy Racers, Linear, Lightning, Mezzo, Bike Friday or AZUB, we can certainly try to source any proprietary parts you may need.
We welcome children's bikes, because (1) they get children to school, (2) servicing a kid's bike overseas generates mechanic employment just as an adult bike does, and (3) they fit well into the interstices of a shipping container (and increase the value of the shipment)! These items fit well within the shipments of bicycles, adding value without displacing bicycles.
All new bikes and trikes have a "settling in" phase, where cables might stretch, spokes might change tension, and the like. We strongly advise you to bring your new cycle back to us after roughly thirty days or 100 miles so that we can check it over and make any adjustments needed. After this initial adjustment, your bike should require little maintenance for quite some time.
Two-wheeled recumbents take the fun and speed of upright cycling and add comfort to the mix. Roadies and touring bike enthusiasts who don't have balance issues can find a two-wheeler that suits their needs.
Perhaps best known for high performance, short wheelbase recumbents like their Carbon Aero and Corsa, Bacchetta also makes models suitable for long-distance touring and recreational cycling, like their short wheelbase Giro and long-wheelbase Bella.Hase offers a truly amazing tandem bike, the Pino.

Trikes are excellent for all types of cyclists, from elders to kids and veterans or citizens with disabilities. Trikes take balance out of the equation when it comes to cycling. No need to worry about falling and with a variety of models and manufacturers, there definitely is a trike that will work for you!

Bikes@vienna is awesome! You can officially stop your search for a bike shop by brining your bike here! These folks can help you with all your needs (and if they can't, they know where to send you). They helped me with my damaged inner tube and worn down front brakes. They stayed in touch throughout the repairs and my bike was ready to go right on schedule!! I'll be back in a few days for my winter repairs!

Excellent place! I wanted a motor for my bike, and they were very helpful in deciding the right motor. They installed it so it works beautifully. And they took extra care in making sure it was installed correctly. I was so happy with the work they put into it that I took it on an 11 mile bike ride in the cold right after I got it. I highly recommend Bikes @ Vienna!!

I made an appointment knowing almost nothing about what I was looking for. They had a variety of trikes ready for me to try and did a good job explaining the differences to me without too much jargon or talking down to me. They were very upfront about wait times for different brands. I think we found the right bike for me.

I highly recommend the mechanic Beth. She did a great maintenance check on my bike and explained all the work, which helped since I appreciate explanations. Because it is autumn, I had to wait a few weeks to get my bike back, but Bikes at Vienna has a good system where they emailed me when they thought they can get the bike ready. They returned the bike at the exact date they estimated. They emailed me a quote ahead of time and a receipt after. I appreciate the timeliness and the email communication.

I brought in my trek Road bike to get a flat tire repaired. The young repair person did a great job inspecting the rim and determined what caused the rupture of the inner tube. He replaced the culprit with something that would not cause another problem. Did an excellent job and the price of the repair was fair. I was very impressed with the service!!

Over the years I’ve worked with a good number of the bike shops in DC and N Virginia so I think is fair to say that Bike Vienna is one of the best.
My contact person was Beth Permenter and along with being very knowledgeable she’s also a joy to be around, Beth walked me through everything they had done to my bike (Tern GSD ebike) along with photographs taken during the bike service.
Along with the extraordinary attention to detailed that was given to my bike during service I found the price I was charged to be extremely reasonable.

Can't rate much cause the place is pretty much closed, you gotta leave your blood type and all other personal info outside the door on the clipboard before you can schedule an appointment with them. I needed a pair of sunglasses and some gloves and no one came out to offer any help. Though, the place did have an open sign!

I came to this little shop looking for a bike that can handle a burning man excursion. They completely came through for me. Great customer service, took their time helping me figure out what kind of bike I needed, and let me take my time trying out all the different options. No pressure sales - a plus. I will definitely go back to this shop. AND the bike totally handled the desert.

Decided to fix up my 10 speed after snapping off the rear derailleur recently. I bought some parts online for a tune-up and a new derailleur, but quickly realized that my older bike isn't exactly easy to figure out. Needed a new derailleur mounting bracket so I brought the old one to Bikes at Vienna. The younger kid I talked to that day was very friendly and helpful. Gave me some good tips, I bought a handful of other items to increase my local business shopping after realizing I should have done that in the first place. Went home and began to work on my bike. Everything went well until I

I originally had a negative experience as they damaged the wheel on which I needed a tire replacement. Since it was for my wheelchair rather than a bike (that is, absolutely essential) and it was extremely expensive, I was absolutely devastated to the point of tears! I wrote to them to express my frustration; I didn't really expect a resolution and had resigned myself to being lucky if I got an apology. Nevertheless, the owner (Tim) went above and beyond - contacting the manufacturer and sending it out to be repaired.

The bike mechanics are fantastic and I particularly appreciated their willingness to solve a complex problem on my Elliptigo. They succeeded in the exact time they estimated while Spokes refused to even consider making the repair. I am forever grateful for the professionalism and technical prowess of Bikes at Vienna and will make ever effort to frequent the shop for my biking needs. Thank you!

Service shop staff know the products very well, provide great advice if you are a diy mechanic, and the service charges for the jobs requiring special equipment are very reasonable. This is my go-to bike shop for Bromptons, trikes, recumbents, Breezers, and Terns.
If you're looking for a place to repair your department store bought bikes, this may not be the place. This store specializes in high-end folding, commuting, and touring bikes that retail starting at $1000. These are bikes that have a huge fan following abroad and are hard to find here in the United States.

Unfortunately, with quick succession I received a bee sting to the ear and a rear flat while riding the W&OD trail. While I am fully capable of changing out a flat myself on the trail, I figured it would be far quicker to have it done at a local shop. It ended up taking 40 minutes because the technician exploded the first replacement tube while attempting to triage new customers. The other employee could have helped shield her from these incoming customers but instead was watering the flowers outside.
All of these sins would have been forgiven if the technician didn't charge me the ridiculous

The staff are worthy of the highest praise. Very honest and knowledgeable so if you're not sure what your bike needs, just ask. They will point out what's essential and won't waste your time or money on something you don't need.
One of the best in the East Coast.

We recently purchased two folding bikes from Tim and his wonderful bike shop. The staff could not have been more helpful in selecting and outfitting the right bikes for my wife and I. We purchased folding bikes to take on vacation and on boat trips to local stops to allow us to get a little exercise when we are not at home. The two bikes we purchased from the bike shop at Vienna are very different, but fit our individual wants and needs perfectly.
I would highly recommend this shop for your next bike purchase.

This place has AMAZING customer service! I emailed about a mountain bike part, and Tim responded back - he was incredibly helpful, and although they didn't have it, he went out of his way to try and assist by suggesting a place that would be more likely to have it. You don't find that very often, especially not in VA!
If you have a road bike that you're quite fond of, this is the place to go. I'm sure they'd go above and beyond to make sure that both you and your bike are happy :)

I bought an REI Novara bike for my commute and I loved it. i found that I needed a rack for my heavy bag for work. I took the bike for a regular service to Bikes at Vienna and asked them if they had any suggestions for a rack. Since REI uses Tern (I think?) to manufacture their Novara folding bike, the Tern rack that they had in stock fit the bike. They tested it out on the bike before installing it completely for me- such great customer service!
The staff here is also extremely knowledgeable about local bike trails and how to commute safely. I am new to the bike commuting scene, so their help

My wife and I have been riding a tandem that's essentially a time capsule. Nothing had been updated since 1985. Ben at A1 Cycles in Manassas suggested I take it Tim. I'm very glad I took his advice.
Tim upgraded the rear cog and derailluer, adjusted the rear hub, replaced the front dereilluer and the bar end shifters. He didn't insist on padding the bill (sometimes inexperienced mechanics don't know the difference) by adding a new rear wheel, chain and chain rings. The price was excellent and the workmanship equally good.
Some bike shops make the mistake of testing new installations

Respect this place the most. Very knowledgeable staff. Good prices. Unpretentious. Lots of speciality bikes. Always helpful and not trying to fake out customers. I say these comments with over 40 years of biking experience.
Had these guys replace an entire drivetrain on one of my bikes that I've been abusing for years in the Miami sand. They did a perfect job at a very reasonable price. My bike was cleaned up, too. Every shop should do that.

John and his crew are best know for their extensive and outlandish inventory and service of recumbent, trike and folding bikes. My nephew from Wisconsin still has his heart set on one.
Personally, I like Bikes@Vienna for the customer service on the two Marin bikes I've purchased there as well as numerous accessories. They've always have done "the right thing" in any problem. With a warranty problem, I got a new bike rack in time for my vacation.
Near the W&OD Bike Trail, the store is located just down an alley off of Chruch Street where Terra Christa sits.
