Orthopedic and Sport-related injuries are inevitable. If you're active, chances are you are either currently injured or have been hurt in the past. Certain trauma is unavoidable, but the vast majority of injuries occur through repeated movements or static positions that are simply inefficient or, in other words, wrong!
We are proud to now offer NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT) as part of our overall treatment paradigm. This technique looks at our compensation patterns from a motor control perspective. The Motor Control Center of the brain in the Cerebellum stores movement patterns, and this occurs in normal development, in response to our repeated habits and activities, or as a result of injury as the body attempts to protect itself and avoid pain.
Clients come to us because of pain, often only occurring on one side and they do not understand why. They may also notice that they always lean on one leg more then the other, sit with one leg always crossed on top, arch their back, or have one shoulder higher than the other. Simply put, these findings often represent clear signs of imbalance between joints, bones, muscles and other soft tissue in the body.
MOBILITY: the joints need to have FULL active and passive range of motion within their normal pathways. DYNAMIC ABILITY: taking resistance of any kind (body weight, medicine ball, kettle-bell, etc.,) and being able to safely accelerate and decelerate that force. Deficits in any of these 3 areas WILL increase injury risk and WILL absolutely limit performance output.
The pelvis is involved in nearly everything we do from basic bodily functions to elite athletic endeavors. Situated at the base of the spine, the pelvis connects the upper body and lower body and it also serves as the foundation of our core while supporting our internal organs.
With so many forces acting on this area, the muscles and joints in and around the pelvis are susceptible to imbalance which in turn can impact muscles and joints throughout the body. While typically thought of as a condition that only affects pregnant and post partum females, problems with the pelvis can affect anyone at any age and stage of life.

I have previously worked with other physical therapist and hands down Dimitry and Total Physical Therapy is the BEST. Their focus, caring and responsiveness is unparalleled. Their unique approach generated quick results and not only improved my troubled back but also improved my overall body. The use of instructional videos of my myself to refer to when performing exercises at home enhanced my workouts. It is ironic that I actually enjoyed my time doing PT with Dimitry.

Far and away the best PT experience I've had over twelve years of knee injuries and operations.
First, Dimitry's title should be upgraded from "Doctor" to "Wizard" of PT. His ability to identify and address the biomechanical root cause of an issue is incredible and at times feels closer to witchcraft than medicine.
Second, his business / treatment model is far more effective, sustainable, and ethical than traditional PT. Every session is one-on-one and focused on correcting problems specific to each patient's body, yielding better and faster results. Rather than simply supervising, Dimitry educates

Go see Lauren! I was very close to having knee surgery when a friend recommended I go see Lauren first. Thankfully I did and a month or so later, I was pain free! And still am two years later. I've been back for some other minor issues (shoulder/heel) which she has also remedied. She clearly communicates what you need to do after every appointment - including videos to show proper movement. She is truly amazing! Thank you Lauren!

My experience: Incredible knowledge of what creates back pain from a root cause point of view and how to address that. Most modern techniques I have experienced as a long term back pain sufferer. The key is determination and education of how to take control rather than typical PT techniques where you are manipulated for temporary relief. Thanks Dimitry. I am forever grateful

Dimitry is incredibly knowledgeable and helped me understand the whole picture of how the different problems with my body relate to/cause each other. This was the first time someone has been able to give me the ability to comprehend how it all works and the realistic belief that I can get better. He doesn't try to treat just one problem from one type of angle like many specialists and doctors do; he gives you a comprehensive explanation and strategy to resolve the interconnected issues at hand. He's very approachable and reassuring, and I never felt like an anomaly or like there was no hope. 10

After a few years of trying other kinds of PT and all kinds of body therapies, my back has finally improved with the help of Dimitry. After just a handful of appointments, which were spread out so I could do the exercises and get stronger in between, I have seen so much progress. It does take work and discipline to do it, but for anyone who has tried everything and really wants to work on themselves, this approach may be the answer. I am grateful. It is worth the investment.

I first came to Dimitry with lower back pain that I could not figure out. As a personal trainer struggling with my own pain was frustrating to say the least. As everyone else has mentioned, Dimitry is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the human body and is an exceptional communicator, but he is also extremely kind and generous with his time. He has helped me understand the body in a way no one else in the field has and has given me the tools to manage my pain. He has also made me a better trainer and through his helping me I have been better able to help others. All around it has been

I was experiencing pain in my elbow that was limiting my exercise routine. My initial physical therapist was treating it in a vacuum as an elbow only issue. Lauren was a second opinion and as part of her initial assessment, instantly determined that it wasn’t an elbow issue, rather an issue with my overall core and the surrounding support structure. Once she helped me build up strength within those supporting areas (back, shoulders, core, etc), the elbow issue was resolved. At the end of it all, she trigger a different way of thinking for me - a mindset in the context of exercise and total body

Dimitry is an incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and intuitive physical therapist. I felt like he truly took the time to understand my particular injury and the reasons that it occurred in the first place. He thoroughly explained everything, and provided me with the tools to keep myself active and healthy in the future. I would highly recommend him and Total PT.

I owe my successful recovery to Lauren Beasley!! I suffered a complete quad tendon tear that required me to immobilize my leg for 6+ weeks, followed by intense PT. I was in PT with another therapist for months but was not progressing and getting worried I would never walk cleanly again. Someone recommended Lauren and thank GD - she jump started my successful recovery and helped me get back on track. She is extremely knowledgeable, innovative, encouraging and frankly a pleasure to work with. I can’t recomend Lauren enough!
