Services
Our Board of Directors consists of members who volunteer their time and expertise with the sole purpose of carrying out the mission of the Association. We highly encourage you to participate in setting the direction of GACA's future by attending meetings, submitting recommendations, and voicing the needs of addiction counselors in your region of the state.
Georgia Addiction Counselors Association appreciates our sponsors, and thanks each of them for being a valuable partner and supporter. Our unique Christ-centered approach and specialized curriculum focus on addiction as a lifestyle-related health problem with biological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual dimensions.
To get started on your certification or recertification process, please review the application requirements for the credential you need. Certification may be awarded to those counselors who demonstrate through the application and examination, adequate experience, skills, knowledge, and competency in counseling for substance use disorders or substance misuse.
Each state sets acceptable criteria for issuing Reciprocity credentials based upon certification or licensure from another state. GACA will consider all candidates on a case-by-case basis. GACA may grant reciprocity to an addiction counselor certified by a non-NAADAC certifying body if the applicant meets all other qualifications.
The Board of Directors approved changes to the certification policies and procedures regarding legal status. Applicant must be cleared of all criminal charges / misdemeanors and/or felonies, and probation and/or parole requirements prior to applying for certification. All individuals who have a prior criminal record with felony convictions / charges will be required to submit a Criminal Background report to the Certification Committee.

I became a member 10 years ago and love it. I attend every fall conference and have learned so much during the conferences. The staff at GACA are always a great help in answering and directing me into the different areas I need direction for, and big applause to Sadie for all she does in the office for all of us.
