We are bombarded by headlines, medical providers, friends, and family telling us which foods are good, which foods are bad, and giving us rules about eating. We are told we cannot trust our own bodies to know how to eat, and that we must follow a "plan" or instructions from a book or expert in order to find health.
Add on a chronic health condition like diabetes and the pressure to cut out foods or follow a "plan" becomes even stronger. I'm a Registered Dietitian, nutrition therapist, and diabetes specialist. I help people make peace with food and their bodies, and I have an extra special place in my heart for people living with diabetes.

Coping with a diabetes diagnosis, managing blood sugar and living day-to-day with diabetes can be really tough. You were probably handed a lot of rules and myths along with your diabetes diagnosis, and trying to follow them can make you feel like you're falling into a bottomless well of information.
I help people make peace with food and their bodies, and I have an extra special place in my heart for people living with diabetes. We are all born with innate wisdom about how to nourish our bodies, and as a nutrition therapist, my job is to guide my clients back to that wisdom.
I respect a diversity of body shapes and sizes, and my goal is to provide a weight-inclusive space for my clients to engage in interventions for healing their relationship with food and body.I recognize that our physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing are all of equal importance, so our work together won't just be about food.

As a person living with diabetes, you have to think about food way more than the average person. It's no wonder that people with T1D are almost 2.5 times more likely to deal with an eating disorder than those without diabetes. Some people might think that their diagnosis of T1D keeps them from being able to find freedom with food, but that is far from the truth.
If you've been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes or Prediabetes, you might be feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what to eat in order to best care for your body. While most diabetes information is focused on weight loss and restrictive diets, my non-diet, weight-neutral approach will help you make sense of blood sugar and food while helping you make peace with your body.
