Great overall experience. Kayla is an awesome stylist and also super friendly. She gave me an all over highlight, trim, Kerastase mask (which I highly recommend) and a blowout. I used to drive to the city to get my hair done, but never again. The service here is better and I don't have to deal with any of the stressful aspects of going into the city.

I was here on a Friday when they played their Pandora 80s classics playlist. I was so comfortable and refreshed by my treatment which started off with a complimentary drink. In summary, the Waves Salon has a lovely environment and skillful staff.

Kayla is knowledgeable and did not take my inspiration photos for face value, but gave me realistic game plan for my hair.

Because I wanted to go for a blue-black, but was not ready to bleach my hair she did the base color to accommodate what I was willing to pay for

Kayla is seriously the best! Been going to her for a long time and she really knows how to give me what I want. It's more than just the outcome it's experience as well that she is perfect with. She is also the only one that my daughter who trusts as well with her hair. She colored and cut her hair. Did an amazing job! She color corrected my hair and gave me the perfect trim. On multiple occasions. She is always my go to!

Gretel worked her magic on my long black hair a few months ago and I recently came back to get rid of some brassy-ness and brought my balayage back to this nice brown tone! wow I was not disappointed. I really appreciate her professionalism/talent and kindness. Thank you Gretel!

Where to even start? I love this salon! Kayla is the absolute best at color, tones, cuts, styling... you name it. My boyfriend and I refuse to go anywhere else because of the high quality service and attention to needs and detail. Not only will you get the best standards for your hair but the staff here treat you like family and make you feel welcome. Another honorable mention is the beautiful and relaxing ocean themed decor in the salon, perfect for a coastal native like me or anyone else who loves the vibe.

I normally don't put reviews online that often but when I have an awesome experience, I want people to know it. Kayla Sanders at Waves is so awesome! She was professional, listened to what I wanted, and her experience with color and highlighting is hands down the best! I love my hair every time she does it. I don’t usually do this since I myself am a business owner. However my experience with Kayla whom rents a chair at Waves in Pacifica really ruined my hair. I went in there with the sole purpose of having her correct the color in my hair which had a lot of Blonde in it and a haircut. I SPECIFICALLY said I did not want RED in my hair. When I left there it did have a cast of burgundy in it. Kayla said oh i see red in it. She said I can correct that however I had been there already for Four hours and had spent $230.00 for that procedure and $90.00 on product. I went home after a few weeks and I only

I had my hair done at Waves with Kayla. Besides a happy experience, Kayla nailed it with my hair. My hair is wimpy and brittle, and I walked out feeling and looking great. My hair looks healthy, shape is perfect and I can work with it. Thank you Kayla, highly recommend.

I left Waves Salon feeling like a brand new person today! Gretel was just amazing and made me feel so confident after my service. I came in wanting a haircut and curtain bangs. Gretel went above and beyond and brought my hair back to life. What initially drove me in to coming in was seeing how she prioritizes the health and integrity of her customers' hair. Gretel is amazing! I came to her after 9+ months of not getting my hair cut or colored (covid hair!) I had grown out roots and split ends like crazy. She took great care in cutting off my dead ends and getting me back to blonde! I will definitely be back.

I needed to find a new stylist after mine moved out of state.

I had my hair cut and colored by Gretel last week and I don't have enough good things to say about the result, I am IN LOVE with my hair!

She took the time to assess my current hair, asked me what I was looking for and made some suggestions about the style which I really appreciated.

The color she did was amazing! I told her I was looking for something a little more natural and closer to my normal hair color. She added some highlights and lowlights that look so natural, it was just what I was looking for!

I experienced a hair color hiccup about a month ago. I was in need of color correction and also in dire need of a hair salon. A place that my hair could call home, you know?

I am sad to say that the hair salon that I had been going to for quite a while had to close it's doors for good in 2020. Ack! What's a gal to do?
2 weeks after coming home with electric red hair and an itchy, peeling scalp, I was on a mad hunt for a fabulous hairstylist somewhere in the Pacifica area. No need to get into detail on

Omg... words can't describe how much I'm in love with my hair! Gretel knew exactly what I was looking for! Because my hair had grown out really bad from the last time I got it done 2 years, it definitely needed some help and saving. The half highlights definitely brought some light into my dull dark hair. I was kind of afraid when it came to the bottom portion of my hair because it was already dyed but she was able to blend it in a way where it wasn't going to give me really blonde tips.

I just got home from my appointment with Gretel and I have never been happier with a haircut or salon experience in my life! The shop is beautiful and very clean and welcoming. I went in with very vague directions and no idea what I wanted and she gave me her recommendations and it couldn't be more perfect. She is an absolute sweetheart and we had a great conversation throughout which sometimes is hard to find with a stylist! You can tell she is passionate about her work and it truly shows!

Gretel is incredible. I have been looking for a stylist to love, and I am so glad to have found her at Waves! She listened to what I wanted, took her time making sure it was just right, and even checked in with me later in the day to make sure I was happy with the cut and color!

The salon was spotless and Covid protocol was in place: temperature check, masks on, sanitizer stations available, limited people in the salon.

I 100% recommend Gretel and getting your hair styled at Waves! She will take care of you and make your experience comfortable and enjoyable! I will absolutely be back.

Just had my best haircut ever with Gretal! It was easy to book the appointment online, the salon was clean and beautiful , safety precautions for Covid were taken and I'm very happy with my cut. Would highly recommend! Thank you!

I had a fantastic experience at Waves, with Gretel as my stylist. If you're on the fence, just book an appointment. I am incredible picky and she nailed the cut, and in particular, the fringe (aka bangs). I've almost never had a stylist get the bangs so beautifully on the first try. I used to drive all the way to a Sassoon salon in SF, but no more--I'll just be going to see Gretel (who is Sassoon trained!). 5 stars on technique and experience. All the awesomeness of Sassoon with a gregarious and incredibly sweet stylist in Pacifica. Can't wait to go back.

I hadn't had a haircut in over 6 months and my hair, aka: bird's nest looked horrible as you can imagine. My usual place was closed and I was scared to try another place. It's not easy to find your perfect hairdresser! Well I'm so glad I took the chance on Waves Salon! Gretel was amazing! She knows her stuff! She effortlessly cut my hair exactly how I like it with almost no direction from me. You can tell she's a naturally gifted artist. She was also very sweet, friendly and pleasant. Oh and she plays great 70s jams in the salon! Haha! I was in and out of there in an hour

I can say so many great thing about this salon!! Gretel was just absolutely amazing. She was friendly and easy to talk to. I was completely lost with my hair and had given up, Gretel was able to help me figure out what we should do in order to get it back healthy again. This salon also carries these amazing products from Kérastase. Gretel put the versatile beautifying oil in my damaged hair and I could already feel the huge difference the oil made, of course I HAD to buy it considering how quickly and easily I saw the results. I am so fortunate to have found this wonderful salon and will continue

I had a chance to take a peek inside the newly renovated salon. I have to say it looks great. The new owner, Gretel really took her client's health and well being into consideration during these Covid-19 times. The stations are well spaced out and everything is new and clean. I have been going to Gretel for many years at her salon in Belmont and I'm very happy that she is now in Pacifica so close to the beach. I can't wait until she opens so I can indulge in some much needed me time.

I first found Gretel when my hair was dying after 4 years of bleach and rotating between all the pretty but damaging Guy Tang colors (platinum blonde, ash brown, silver lavender, rose gold, etc etc). She's nursed my hair back to health since then, which was no easy feat!
Simply put, Gretel is AMAZING. I'm so thrilled to have followed her to Waves Salon! She's been cutting, coloring, and treating my mane for the past 2 years now and I was lost without her when COVID hit. When she told me she had opened her own salon in Pacifica, I was so super thankful and booked my appointment ASAP.
A few things

Just walked in to this hair salon. I asked if they would take walk-ins because i had called several times already trying to schedule an appointment. She let me know they do but prefer appointments because they only have two people working there. She then hands me their business card which takes me to my issue: I'm here in front of you wanting to pay to get a hair cut and all you do is give me your card. Sending me away to another hair salon. She didn't ask what type of service I needed nor did she offer to schedule an appointment.
