Young's Dress Maker & Alterations
Young Chang (better known to her friends and customers as Mrs. Young) grew up in Korea, where she perfected her talents at a design school. While in Design School, Mrs. Young opened her own dressmaking business. By the time she completed her education in 1976, Mrs. Young had already established a solid reputation as a reliable and talented seamstress.

When she and her husband moved to the United States in 1977, Mrs. Young knew she wanted to reopen her business, but it was not until they moved to Charlotte in 1981 that she started up as a dressmaker again. Today, 35 years later, Mrs. Young and her husband own Young's Dress Maker & Alterations at Providence Square Shopping Center.
Services
When a bride cannot find the dress of her dreams or needs a special size, she gathers photographs from magazines and websites and visits Mrs. Young. Together, they create a dress, piece by piece, made uniquely for her. Often, we take the sleeves from one photo, the skirt from another and combine that with a different top to create the design we are looking to create.
Mrs. Young is happiest when she is guiding satin or silk through the humming sewing machine. Lace and brocade fabrics sitting nearby are added throughout the process. Sometimes, Mrs. Young creates attire for the entire wedding party. This is exciting because her creativity is present in all the dresses.
Young's Dress Maker & Alterations is confident in our ability to provide clients throughout Charlotte with exceptional garment making and tailoring services. Our professionals attentively listen to your needs and create a custom garment that you will love. Young's Dress Maker & Alterations is equipped to handle a wide range of tailoring and garment creation requests.

Mrs. Young was able to save my wedding dress due to a dry cleaning disaster. She painstaking removed yellowed sequins and added new sequins and crystals. She is a master at her dress making/alterations!
Thank You again !

I brought my wedding dress here for alterations and bustle. It was a complicated dress because it was several sizes too big and had many layers of tulle, as it was a ‘ball gown’.
The entire process of teaching my mom and sister to bustle the dress was extremely rushed. Although Mrs. Young would later say she suggested we practice bustling the dress before the wedding, this did not happen. I specifically did not put the dress on before the wedding because it was pressed, and I didn’t want to get it dirty.
When it came time to bustle my dress on the day of my wedding, we experienced great
